Salty was DFA'd by the marlins today. Would it make sense for the team to bring him back?
Personally, I was thinking no, as Hanigan is playing adequately and Swihart is almost ready. I wouldn't want to block him.

Why is this in the trade proposal forum - if you want Salty back, wait for him to be released and offer him the league minimum, no need to pay him $17m.
Anyway, I don't think Salty is better than Sandy at this point.

I wouldn't want to block him. Salty has a good bat, but his fielding leaves a lot to be desired. Sign him to a PawSox deal, but have him play 1B or OF.

He's adequate as a catcher, but not as a poor defense catcher. And certainly not good enough to play any other positions.

I think after he passes waivers he won't have a problem getting a MLB contract at league minimum, before he is forced into a minor league role. He still get's his paycheck from the Marlins so not a terrible deal for him.

I'm almost certain that the "No" was in reference to the title of the thread ("Bring Back Salty?") and not to the idea that he wouldn't get an MLB deal.

Well it was written 5 days after the thread came out, so I was just assuming it was pointed to the latest post.

It was referring to bringing him back here.
