I hate these guys. Or to quote a friend "The greatest happiness is to scatter your enemy, to drive him before you, see those who love him shrouded in tears, and to gather into your bosom his wives and daughters.” So, yeah, win two and steal one from the very jaws of victory in a way that causes them and their fans unrelenting angst. I'd prefer to have Genghis on the mound tonight.

Hey look, Masterson issued a 4 pitch walk to the guy batting in front of a guy who usually kills him*

C.C. Sabathia is on top of his game today. Mike Mayock isn't.

So, how many more AB's until Craig is either:
1) Optioned (believe he still has left)? 2) Traded? 3) DFA'd?

And Craig comes through striking out on three straight pitches....

Here's the thing: if you aren't going to start Craig versus a LHP while both Victorino and Castillo are injured, he really shouldn't be on the active roster at all, since you're never really going to play him (except maybe as a third-string 1B?). So really, the anger should be at the fact that he's on the roster (and not DFAed or optioned to the minors). For sure. If I'd prefer to have Daniel Nava starting in right field in Fenway against an LHP then the alternative just isn't a major leaguer.

Good. At this point I hope Craig is just so bad they have to option him. Any hits he gets may only show management false hope and buy him more time on the roster.

No matter what Hanigan ends up doing I'm pretty happy with this at-bat.

Ells had that arm on him? A most shocking thing: Ells getting his money and not laying down every other week with minor discomforts. Jacoby Ellsbury, NY Yankees best player. For whatever reason that doesn't bother me.

Great. Now Farrell's gonna think his mindless decisions are smart.

Both of these pitchers look like slaw tonight. They don't have an out pitch between them.

It annoys the hell out of me anytime a fan interferes with a Red Sox-hit ball down there.

Also Farrelll Genius Alert for starting Craig. We have to live with that, too.

Wow. Kick that fan out of Fenway right now. That guy is a hero - he realized that Butterfield was guaranteed to make the wrong call if he didn't touch it, better to leave it up to the umps than Butterfield!

Great. Now Farrell's gonna think his mindless decisions are smart. If it equates to the unexpected Carp of '13 I'm all aboard.

What is it about a lead that bings out the worst of the Sox starters?
