“@peteabe: Farrell said there will be a rotation in RF and CF with Betts, Castillo and Victorino. For now, Victorino is day to day.” yeah, let's play the guy 2nd on the team in WAR (with a 240 BABIP) less

“@peteabe: Farrell said there will be a rotation in RF and CF with Betts, Castillo and Victorino. For now, Victorino is day to day.” I don't understand why there would be a rotation. Victorino would only be taking ABs from up and coming players Betts and Castillo. Victorino's role should be as a #4 OF, to spell those guys when they need a day off, to provide a RH bat off the bench, and to improve the OF defense subbing for Hanley Ramirez late in games (maybe with Betts or Castillo moving to LF with Vic in RF).

Don't read too much into the semantics of it. A rotation is just a demotion for Victorino by another name. It'll be something like 80% Hanley (with addl starts at DH), 90% Betts, 50% Victorino, 80% Castillo.

Eighteen (18) games at Pawtucket? EDIT: Yeah, what Chris said. About 13-14 games more than necessary. I saw enough last season to know he was our best RF this season. That's not exactly a high bar to set either. He missed two weeks in spring training, then got into 10 MLB ST games before being optioned. He played 3 regular season games then missed two and a half weeks. He didn't play on consecutive days until May 8. Luckily, that twisted ankle the other night didn't turn into anything. In the fall, he played 8 games in Arizona before getting hurt. He came back for 10 games in Puerto Rico. He hasn't been healthy and playing for more than about three weeks straight yet this year. In fact, if you think about it, the 10 MLB games last year plus the 8 in Arizona, an 18-game stretch, represent the longest he's gone without being hurt in his career so far. They're not babying him - they're asking him to prove he can stay healthy. Also, reports had him being SUPER aggressive in Pawtucket, which is just how he is I guess, but I'm sure they wanted him to perhaps work on developing a better approach than the Nomar Garciaparra School of See Ball Hit Ball. The MLB lineup's ineptness forced their hand. Here's to hoping the three injuries were just a stretch of poor health luck. By the way, over/under on pitches not offered at per at-bat tonight is 1.3. Who wants in?

You what's too bad Victorino was doing better but you can't depend on the guy. I can't help to think Hanley is still hurting with the
shoulder.
With Farrell changing the lineup I hope he sticks with the changes for a little while.

Just spitballing, has Brentz played any 1B? Know, they've been exposing multiple players at different positions

Where is everyone? We'll be lucky to score 2 runs off of Richards. He is throwing gas and locating his pitches.

Nice to see Napoli go yard, and Xander hit one pretty well too.

Maybe Pedroia should be the new hitting coach? How come Chili Davis couldn't detect what was wrong in Napolis swing? You certainly can see the difference, especially with that home run. A BOMB!

I suspect Napoli is going to go on one of those en fuego streaks.

Oh hey I guess Rick Porcello isn't really a 6.50 ERA pitcher.

Does anyone think its evident that Farrell will move Mookie Betts in the lineup? I heard in his weekly interview that they we're having discussions about it. I think that would be a mistake.

Be careful how much stock you put in these convenient narratives. Ortiz mentioned in that Tomasse article that Chili's been providing some good insights but some guys just aren't listing. It's obviously Papi's perception but it's an interesting thing to for a popular and well-respected player to about his teammates.
