I really am not following the Red Sox record for the rest of this season, just the players. That being said, these are 3 games I really want us to win.
And to that note, congrats to Henry Owens. For some reason he feels like the forgotten man of this farm system, but I really like how he progressed this year. Looking forward to seeing him pitch Tuesday night.

Is this the first start by Stephen Wright that did not occur in the last game of the series?

The fact that the Yankees have Tanaka, Pineda and Severino is daunting looking at the future. At least the first two are injury prone.

It would of been awesome to see an Owens/Severino debut-off.

Very easy to check: www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2015-lineups.shtmlHas made 9 starts. 4 were in the last game of a series. So no, not his first start that did not occur in the last game of a series.

Remember that guy who predicted in preseason that A-Rod and Tex would have 8 fWAR more than Hanley and Sandoval at the beginning of August? I wonder what ever happened to him.

Johnson just put on DL with elbow tightness.

Teixeira is having the best offensive season of his career. He is 35. He had a .700 OPS across his age 33 and 34 seasons. I just threw up a little bit.

Johnson just put on DL with elbow tightness. They're going to be tempted to give Kelly one more shot at the rotation, but it would make more sense to just use Masterson, and get a look at Kelly as a reliever. And if they commit to that as they ought to, they may want to put Barnes back in the PawSox rotation. In the meantime, Steven Wright is the #3 starter.

Yankees are obviously just a better run team than the Red Sox.

Love to see the Pawsox pitchers sweep the Yanks. I can't root for L's to get a higher draft pick.

Dustin Ackley to the DL for NYY. Don't see a report yet on who will come up to take his spot.

Wouldn't mind if Owens threw a perfect 9 innings then Sandoval/Ramirez/Napoli botched a routine play in the 10th to lose it.
Lose to these bums at all costs. Lose it for Larry.

This is a crazy stat, 4/9! That's akin to 40% of sickdays being used on either a monday or a Friday.

Not sure why you are rooting for the Red Sox to lose to the Yankees, this might not be a save place for you...Just my hunch (I am probably jinxing it, but I have to get it down on paper) but I think Owens is going to carve this squad up tonight. I've become progressively more excited about Owens this season.

Take all 3 and get back in the race.
It will become the greatest Red Sox season since 2013, Cherington will be called a genius and his defenders will be all "I told you so! 162 Games!" I'd gladly swallow that bitter medicine,

This in from the schadenfreude department: Michael Pineda will not pitch in the month of August after straining his forearm.

Lucky jerks.
