Game 1 of the GCL doubleheader has begun (technically resumed). Pat Goetze is the first pitcher, so perhaps a bullpen game with Espinoza pitching game 2?

Didn't realize there was a DH...forgot about all the rain down there. Hope you're right on the plan, Espinoza's become my "must follow" on days he pitches. Good to see Steen get promoted and pitch pretty well in Lowell; hoping Espinoza gets a shot pretty soon as well.

I get frustrated with the GCL and the 50 rainouts every year. It's almost as if baseball shouldn't be played outside in Florida in the summer.

Goetze and Martinez combine for 7-6-2-2-1-9 to close out the suspended game. Coyle doubled in the ninth.

Rusconi also back in the lineup as the DH after last playing July 21 (who knows how many missed games that actually is...).

Brian MacPherson @brianmacp 5m5 minutes ago Matt Barnes will start Wednesday for the starter-depleted PawSox. Pitch count will be 65-75. Goal will be to develop his pitch mix more.

Cosart strikes out the side in the first and then is replaced. Seems odd, unless the box score is wrong.

Cosart punches out the side in the 1st and then lifted?

Disgraceful decision by the Red Sox not to have Espinoza pitch today.

Disgraceful decision by the Red Sox not to have Espinoza pitch today. I blame Farrell No, this sounds like a management decision. It must be Cherington's fault. But seriously, might the Sox be winding Espinoza down for the year, or at least extending out his workload, in deference to his age?
