May not look like it, but that's a bomb to get out there that quick.

Was at Seadogs game last night and got my first look at Margot and Sam Travis. Travis is a rangy, athletic looking guy and played 3B. He had a ringing triple and a single with a hard shot up the middle along with a walk. He took a called third strike.
Margot hit one shot deep to center that I figure two years from now would have been gone as well as a looper down the right field line that he legged into an easy double with outstanding speed. He looks every bit the very confident, sprightly athlete. So these two guys clearly stood out from the 'I'm an athlete' standpoint.
Diaz pitched 6 innings or so with a 93 mph FB, curve and change. The off-speed pitches were apparently deceptive. I believe he struck out 6. The lineup has been augmented by Lawry, Roberson and a couple of others who have some pop.
Edit: Just looked at the scouting report pages for Margot and Travis. Travis is not noted for being an athlete there but on the field he had the presence of one to me. I was also surprised to see both he and Margot listed at 6'0. From the stands I would have guessed Margot at 5'10" and Travis at 6'2" or so. Time for an eye exam probably.

I was just thinking about the GCL thing and maybe one potential benefit to playing three teams all year is that it could help guys learn how to make adjustments. If you're seeing the same pitchers over and over, maybe they'll start to expose a weakness or two in a hitter and the hitter will have to adjust to what the pitcher is trying to do. Now, I also understand that GCL pitchers may not have the best control, so if a guy wants to pound a guy inside with fastballs let's say, he's probably not going to hit that spot every time. Just a thought though, that maybe it helps guys think more about what a guy's trying to do and go up to the plate with an actual approach.

One thing, though - I'm not sure it was Travis you saw at third base. Box score says it was Lawley there, and while they definitely aren't twins or anything they are similar-enough that he could look like Travis from the stands. Travis hasn't played 3B in the pros.

If I just saw the side view of that Moncada HR swing I would think it was a bloop to left center. Crazy.

His ability to get that much power out of such a short, simple swing is impressive as hell. That should seriously be in the dictionary under "easy power." This guy is insane. So glad he has adjusted and is figuring it out. Without a question number 1 in the system for me right now, and absolutely top 5 in baseball, if not top 3.

Just realized this, and maybe I'm coming from a certain perspective, but does "Stankiewicz, Drehoff & Allen" sound like a law firm to anyone else?

Don't think it was a matter of figuring it out. He hadn't played in a pro league in a while so it's all about the timing thing - a point that was made a few times on the board when concerns were voiced. Took about a half-season and he's got that down, it seems. It's easy to see why the scouts were falling all over themselves.

Sam Travis isn't tall and he looks a bit shorter than Swihart when I watched video.

Definitely my bad then. The place was packed for the annual fireworks night and I was at the far end of the LF bleachers. As I said, may need an eye exam. Thanks for the correction.

No worries. From left field I could definitely see how they would look similar. They basically have the same build, and Travis wears #19 and Lawley wears #16.

They're right past the fence. My point is that the ball got there quick. Bomb maybe the wrong word. Laser?
