I read this. Didn't seem to get much love for the other 4 or 5 Sox prospects in the AFL. Cool they won the championship though. Wasn't this the marquee winter league where teams sent their top prospects to? We sent 1 in our top 30.

The Red Sox typically send one real prospect and a bunch of upper-level guys that need the extra reps.

OK....I may be out in LF here, but why do we have a couple of guys playing in like 7 or 8 different winter leagues? Wouldn't it make sense to have ALL our guys playing on one team in one of the better leagues, like the Dominican. It would give us continuity with pitchers & catchers, coaching, rooming, eating, training, traveling together. I know it would be tough if we have like 3 or 4 catchers needing reps, ect, then you send 1 or 2 them to different leagues.

Players are not assigned to their winter league teams - they operate independently of organized/MLB, are drafted by their teams, etc. Also, by both custom and rule players play in winter leagues in the country where they are from.
