Red Sox released Rafael Toribio, even though he slashed .299/.379/.377 probably because of PED suspension.

Red Sox released Rafael Toribio, even though he slashed .299/.379/.377 probably because of PED suspension. I read that he got a 25 game suspension & that only occurs if a player has a syringe in his possession. He is 19 in the DSL. Does that seem old for that league?

It is old, and probably why he was released instead of placed on the suspended list like Francisco Tena and Ricardo Cubillan were.

Going to go out on a limb here and guess that Jeremy Kapstein and Cafardo are boys.
That said, good luck to him.

The discussion of Boggs has reminded me that in 1987, when Boggs hit .363 .461 .588 1.049 for an OPS+ of 174, the Red Sox catcher who played the most games for the Sox (60) was former second-round draft pick Marc (son of Haywood) Sullivan who hit .169 .198 .238 .435 for an OPS+ of 14 (fourteen).

Per Milb.com, Kyle Kraus, Mike Adams, and Kevin Heller released. Adams is at least a mild surprise. 2013 seventh rounder, lefty who got $150K and had a solid season for Salem.

Boston Red Sox Signed: RHP Anthony Varvaro (re-signed), C Ali Solis, 3B Chris Dominguez, OF Ryan LaMarre (non-tendered by Reds), OF Rainel Rosario (Hiroshima (Japan)) Released: RHP Carlos Caceres, RHP Kyle Kraus, RHP Taylor Nunez, RHP Carlos Pinales, RHP Jalen Williams, LHP Mike Adams, LHP Michael Gunn, LHP Randy Perez, C Alex McKeon, 1B David Chester, 1B Darwin Pena, 1B Cisco Tellez, 2B Hector Lorenzana, 3B Aneudis Peralta, OF Kevin Heller Traded: C Zach Kapstein to Orioles for cash www.baseballamerica.com/minors/minor-league-transactions-dec-10-22/A few minor surprises in there. Nobody earth-shattering, but we were projecting Tellez and Heller to start on their respective teams, and Adams had a decent year. Should've mentioned this before, but I doubt it's a coincidence that Kapstein was traded to the team his uncle wound up with.

John Manuel @johnmanuelba 29m29 minutes ago John Manuel Retweeted Ben Badler Had a great debate in office today, Sox top 4 vs. Dodgers top 4. Got spirited! That's like debating if you want your 100 million prize in 20s, or 100s, there is no wrong answer. Seager > Moncada? Urias > Espinoza. Benintendi > Pedersen Devers > Holmes The valuations are so close, every one of those could easily flip flop.

This is wrong. I live outside Nashville. The Sounds play in a spanking new stadium just north of downtown. The old stadium (Greer) is used for high school games now. My bad, I must have read it a few years ago before the new stadium was built. They were only in it for 1 year. That's like Providence building a new stadium & the Sox leaving after a year. Isn't there a lease agreement? That was the case in 2012. Nashville is growing at an alarming rate, with 12,000 per month moving here. Kind of like Atlanta in the 60s to 80s period of time. They see themselves as a future MLB destination and built the new stadium with an eye toward future expansion for MLB play. Of course, state of the art ballparks 20 years from now may render that plan moot.

I see a lot of similarities between the 2 cities possibly trying to obtain a relocated franchise. Both just built state of the art AAA downtown stadiums, both have 2 existing pro teams & there is concern if they could handle a 3rd. I'm not sure if Nashville could retrofit their new ballpark to MLB standards, I do know that Charlotte cannot. I'm sure there about 10 other cities in this same boat.
