His scouting report has hi with 4 pitches. Yes, the secondaries need refinement to be effective as climbs the ladder. Worst case he should profile as a decent power bullpen arm. I get that. Mostly my point was that he develop an *MLB-caliber* third pitch. His slurve sounds OK, but I think it's not quite at the point where it can be considered a curve or slider (or both). Does sound like his change has potential, but last year it sounded rudimentary, which may have been an underestimation. Mostly, I was advocating for him as a starter, until he proves he can't.

Great storyline, and to complement it, fantastic photos from Kelly O'Connor. If determination is an important factor for players to make it to the majors, he may be on his way. He sounds - and looks - like a serious person.
