From today's Diamondbacks gamelog:
Drury doubled to deep left. Owings sacrificed to third, Drury to third. Miller struck out swinging.
Miller, as in Shelby Miller. As in the pitcher. As in they had a leadoff double and then had the #8 hitter sacrifice to get to the pitcher.
Shockingly, the Diamondbacks failed to score in that inning. Is there any way we can go to EPL rules and relegate them to like the Pacific Coast League? Give Albuquerque or El Paso or someone more deserving a shot?

Miracles do happen! And it was off shields! Now I wouldn't trade Shields for Panda even if it's a straight swap.

Matt Eddy @matteddyba #Royals released reclamation project C Jon Denney this week. They signed the #RedSox 2013 third-rounder in February. I hope we hear why... How long is the statute of limitations that we have to wait for until Chris tells us the story? All you need to know is that he had a number of off-field issues beyond the one spring training incident. I'm entirely unsurprised that he got cut this quickly.

He also suggested that Latin Americans are unfairly targeted because of cultural misunderstandings and that they are the target of people seeking money. This may not turn out well.

The biggest story of 2016 to me so far is the White Sox. How are they doing this without the lifting presence of Drake LaRoche? Unbelievable.

That pitching staff is quit good. I think Jose Quintana is one of the most under-rated pitchers in the majors (along with Steven Wright of course). Could it be that the "lifting presence" resulted from removing the LaRoche family weight??

The Nationals reportedly extend Stephen Strasburg for 7/$175m. Next year's shallow free agent class gets shallower.

Nice interview on local NPR station with three Durham Bulls, two players and a coach, on what life in the minors is like ("Host Frank Stasio talks with Mark Sappington, pitcher for the Bulls, Luke Maile, catcher, and Ozzie Timmons, hitting coach") wunc.org/post/play-ball-meet-durham-bulls

Chapman throwing 101 mph BBs in return. I was watching him on MLB....a couple of KC's guys squared him up pretty good for a double to deep center & a hard liner up the middle. Remembering Betances in Fenway (Ortiz/Vazquez) & Miller barely escaping the other night, they do look very good, but not unbeatable. Plus they can't hit.
