I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on Sox Outfield prospect Raiwinson Lameda.
He only appeared in 12 games in the GCL this yr and from what I could gather on Twitter through translation is that he did very well in the Parallel league this past Fall (wherever that is) he was the hits leader.

You know, in the outer reaches of my prospect attention, Lameda has been slightly on my radar after putting up a pretty nice line in the DSL during his age 18 season. Its unfortunate that he only played in 12 GCL games this past year, as I was curious to see how he'd fare. I really won't put any stock into his 1063 OPS at the level given that it encompasses ~36 plate appearances, but if there is one thing that I will point to even in a sample this small was his 8 BB to 4 k ratio. He's probably not a real prospect given his age, but I'll admit to having him slightly on my radar.

I appreciate the reply, yeah you really can't learn anything from 36 at bats in the GCL
what caught my eye was the league leader in hits in the Venezuelan league.
Here's something interesting
Maureen Mullen on Twitter from 27 Sep 2014
RedSox MiL awards [con't] OF Raiwinson Lameda Latin program player of year; RHP Daniel Gonzalez Latin program pitcher of year.

It's better to "not put too much stock" in that SSS than to be making that comment about a much worse one.

The VZ Liga Paralela is the minor league to their winter league (which is really just "their league," but I include that for reference's sake). Several MLB teams including the Red Sox have their own entries in it as well. Age-wise, it's typically guys from Lowell down through the DSL. Success in the Liga Paralela means pretty much nothing. Stats can be found at www.ligaparalela.com.ve/, and we always track basic stats at soxprospects.com/fall-winter.htm.

Thanks Chris I still think we may have something here with
Raiwinson Lameda
In 2014 he was our Latin player of the year In 2015 he was the hits leader at the Rookie level for Winter leagues
Obviously we'll know soon enough. Hopefully he can a full season worth of games in the States in 2016

Nah, I wouldn't count on it. He was the Latin Player of the Year in 2014 because Devers and LAX Basabe both got promoted to the GCL. If you go back through, that really doesn't mean a whole lot: for the Margots and Deverses, there's a lot of Eddie Loras and Carlos Fernandezes wiki.soxprospects.com/Red+Sox+Minor+League+Award+WinnersAs for the Liga Paralela, I'd implore you and pretty much everyone else to ignore winter league stats, especially from the Liga Paralela. There's such a disparity of talent that it's not worth putting much stock into.

I am just surprised that thre is even a thread about him. I don't see anything special here. I mean there pretty much isn't anything 'special', but if this isn't the site where someone can openly ponder whether or not Player X from the DSL might have the slightest chance of ever becoming a prospect, then I'm not sure where else to go. Just a couple of guys making a couple of very mild observations. Nobody is claiming Lameda is a snub on top 100 lists because of his performance in a VZL summer league. Its clearly February.
