Another day, another prospect that the Sox are stealing from the yankees. Good. Love to see the Sox Australian connections come through hahaha (who knew the Sox had Australian connections).
All kidding aside. This kid has a ideal pitchers build. Interesting signing. Has a long way to go before we hear from him (that's if we ever hear anything from him).

Could this be any more Australian?

Could this be any more Australian? Haha ... was about to post the exact same thing. Fun signing, hope it works out, but it gave me an irrationally negative flashback to the Shipley era.

I don't think that means much for an 18 year old who hasn't pitched much. Hard to compare him to the 100 mph assembly line of HS arms in the US which usually end in Dr. Andrews office either right before or right after they're drafted.

Pretty impressive for a soccer/rugby/whatever player with maybe the slowest arm motion I have ever seen in a prospect. Get him into daily workouts and instruction and see where that goes.

More info:
Alex Speier @alexspeier Red Sox signed RHP Brad Inglis out of Australia, a big (6-4, 200 lbs) 18 yr old w/86-90mph FB, ability to spin curve. Change is developing.

(who knew the Sox had Australian connections) It's pretty well documented, fwiw. Deeble's been the Aussie coach for a while and has been their connection there for longer. That's how they wound up with McGrath (for whatever that's worth) and a few other Aussies over the years. The issue is that Australia's not exactly a hotbed. But hey, might as well keep an eye out there.

He's a raw right-handed Henry Owens....works for me. Will be interesting to see if he can beat fellow Aussie Lewis Thorpe to the big leagues. Thorpe had TJ surgery last spring and has an ETA of 2019 or so.

Speaking of which....whatever happened to Bishop, the Australian softball player, the Sox signed 3-4 years ago who was supposed to have big time power?

Speaking of which....whatever happened to Bishop, the Australian softball player, the Sox signed 3-4 years ago who was supposed to have big time power? The Sox released him in July 2013. Looks like he then went back to the Australian Baseball League, caught on with the Brewers in June 2015, was released a month later, and now is back in the ABL. 19 pro games in total, 16 of which came with the GCL Sox in 2013.

Speaking of which....whatever happened to Bishop, the Australian softball player, the Sox signed 3-4 years ago who was supposed to have big time power? You're missing the key piece of "was a fast-pitch softball player before he signed." That signing got WAY more ink than it deserved.

But that's like the perfect story, giving false hope to all the beer league players even though it doesn't compare. It's the next step down from the 39 year old high school physics teacher in The Rookie.
