Bautista should be a DH at this point too and he's over 4 years older than EE. Bautista will get less money prob.

And despite being older, Jose is far more nimble and versatile defensively. EE is pretty much a DH who can play a below average but not horrible first base. Joey is a below average but not horrible right fielder, who could probably be a perfectly decent left fielder for a couple years (at least in a park like Fenway), or move over to first base and be acceptable there. While Edwin should become a full-time DH before Bautista, you'd want that spot open for both, for health concerns as much as defense. Bautista provides significantly more value than Edwin both on defense and on the bases. While both players may start showing increased decline in various facets, Joey seems to have a body that will age better. I'd be shocked if EE got more money, barring any major drop off for Bautista this season.

I think teams will see both as DHs going forward though, unless Bautista tries 1B.

I expect him to get even more starts there this year.

I'm not entirely sold yet, but a 3/60 deal would probably be worth it, especially if a young reliever or two from the Barnes/Light/Hembree/Martin/Jerez group steps up before Koji retires and Owens and/or Johnson flourishes, so those $ aren't needed for pitching.

Bautista is a perfect fit for the Sox after this season. I just hope the Jays don't extend him again. He could be the perfect bridge until the mega free agent class comes out 3 years from now. Then the Sox should pursue one of Machado or Fernandez, with the hopes of landing one. I don't even consider Harper a option. I'm expecting him to be in pinstripes and be the highest paid player in all of sports by that time.

That is unless this Otani kid from Japan isn't posted next year. If he is, then go throw money at him instead. He looks incredible. Might be the best talent to ever come out of Japan soon.
