Listening to the status of the farm system. The mood seems to be getting better. Out of the 30 teams where do we rank now. Bottom third? Dead last... I'm not sure if it's even close. If we’re dead last, then that’s embarrassing and the front office needs to be held accountable

Dead last... I'm not sure if it's even close. If we’re dead last, then that’s embarrassing and the front office needs to be held accountable Because the same front office isn't responsible for the world championship, not to mention all the influx of young talent coming in. This isn't football where u can see the draftees and prospects make an impact immediately, it takes a long time.

New contributor here. Wondering why no mention of Trevor Kelley, Pawtucket RP with ERA approx. 1.00. Likely because he's over 25. I think the SP staff started including older prospects in the rankings a year or two ago. I could be remembering that wrong though.

We do not make prospects ineligible solely because of age. I would venture to guess we haven't done so in ~10 years. Kelley was ranked #63 in our latest vote. His scouting report is up to date and should provide insight into why we ranked him #63. We hope he proves us wrong.

His ERA is about 4.5 runs lower than his xFIP. He has probably earned a shot, but like Mike, I'm hoping to be proven wrong.

Mata may have a strong case for number 2. He's a legitimate starting pitching prospect in the mlb

Putting this here for those who were interested in scouting reports for newly-ranked Cepeda, Guedez, et al.

Wondering whether Flores' drop is due to any reports about him or his stat line so far this year. Anyone who contributes to the rankings want to weigh in? Thanks.

Nice to see Jhon Nunez make into the top 60. I think he has done everything you hope a player does from one year to the next & has really developed over the past year both offensively & defensively. He is an interesting under the radar prospect. I hope they hang on to him. I think he could develope into a serviceable MLB Catcher. If I was a GM of a team looking to make a trade with the Red Sox I'd try to get him added in (along with Shugart).

He stayed about the same but Mata and Jimenez passed him. And fwiw, he was tied with Houck after the voting and easily could've been ahead of him.

I didn't notice the rankings update yesterday. Per a quick glance:
- The major change is Song in at # 13. - Cedanne is up from 59 to 49. - Blake Loubier is 54. - Juan Chacon at 56. - Brendan Cellucci, 57.
Only had 10 minutes to stare at it this morning so could have missed something.

Chase Shugart should be on the move with a substantial jump come August. How can he not be?

Chase Shugart should be on the move with a substantial jump come August. How can he not be? For me, Shugart’s situation reminds me a bit of Thaddeus Ward. Both spent most of their careers in college in the bullpen before moving to the rotation. Both are college pitchers that excelled in Greenville, which is not to be expected per say but also not surprising. The real test is when he moves up the ladder.

And I think they should be aggressive & let him finish the season in Salem

Chase Shugart should be on the move with a substantial jump come August. How can he not be? His placement seems pretty appropriate to me at #23. Thats a good ranking in a system whose 10-20 range looks a lot better than it did in before the start of the season. The most immediate pitchers ranked ahead of Shugart are Kutter Crawford, Ryan Zeferjahn, Thad Ward, Mike Shawaryn, and Durbin Feltman. I think its fine to have him behind those guys maybe on the same tier as Good things about Shugart: 1.73 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 6.0% walk rate. Reasons to limit optimism: Hard to get too excited over stats from a college guy in Low-A, K-rate is 19.7% which is a little meh for his placement, and his ERA is sizably lower than his FIP (3.31) and xFIP (3.95), which are fine but hardly elite. Also, I don't know that anyone here has had a chance to scout Shugart this year and I've seen little/nothing from other sites as well. Anyways #23 sounds right to me for the time being

Cellucci is outside of my top 60..
