Even at 1pm, it is still going to be very cold for a baseball game.

It is truly silly that they can't schedule the games during opening week in domes or warmer areas. Not just the postponements, but also playing baseball in below-freezing weather is silly. It's not going to solve everything, but it could help. Also, don't schedule the interleague game between potential playoff teams. It's so weird that KC is handing out rings in front of the Mets, not to mention raising the banner. Excellent points, all. And those playing in domes and warmer climates likely have the advantage in terms of weather related injuries; and heavy interleague is bad enough, but on opening day?

Interleague has to happen now on opening day just because of the math. 15 teams in each league means there will be one interleague series for opening day. Unless they expand to 32 teams, or contract to 28, that's not going to change.

Is anyone as po'd at the arrogance of MLB as I am? 14 warm weather or domed stadium teams and they start the season with games in Milwaukee, Cleveland, NY, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati??
LA at SD?? Why? Toronto at Tampa? Why? I hope they lose a lot of ticket revenue and viewership for this dumb scheduling....
And, don't get me started about no salary cap, DH in only one league, umpires calling balls and strikes when they have video to call them accurately.... I think it is because the warm-city teams do not want their schedules front-loaded to first half of April when attendance and TV viewership isn't there. That doesn't make sense....are you saying cold weather teams WANT their schedules front loaded with these April games that are, as you say, poor attendance games.

I think it is safe to say that they do it this way so every team and fan base has a chance to have a "real" opening day every other year or so. There is much less excitement around an "opening day" a week into the season. They are also not going to make a fan base or team wait multiple weeks for opening day just to keep the games in warmer climates. That said, the delays are frustrating. I had tickets to an opening day at Fenway a few years ago that was rained out. I had to head out of town the next day, so I had to sell my tickets.

40% attendance, nice job scheduling a day game in early April during the middle of the work/school day in Cleveland.

Still it's idiotic. Houston and New York open in NY and the two teams in our division with domes play each other? Come on.

absurdly tight strikezone; nobody wants to watch Napoli and Santana go up there looking for a walk
