Sadly, no AE on the mound today. Stay tuned, he's scheduled for tomorrow.

Woohoo!
But, man, that Opening Day slate of pitching leaves a bit to be desired.

If I recall, the Sox often don't have their best prospects pitching on Opening Day, especially at the lower levels. AE and Lakins on the docket for tomorrow.

. . . . . and besides, other than AE, that Salem lineup is what everyone's interested in anyway. Right?

Sure, go Salem Red Sox!
Getting Kopech back pitching will help, but I'm hoping a good college pitcher is the right pick at #12 in the draft ... could really use some depth at the A/A+/AA levels.

Sadly, our best prospect lineup is at the dark hole that's Salem. No MiLB.TV. I'm sticking with my opinion that Salem is by far our worst affiliate.

I'm somewhat the same in that when I'm watching MiLB.TV, I rarely watch the PawSox. I prefer watching the players in development.

Best day of the year, as far as I'm concerned. Same here. It does not get any better! Worse day......minor league season ends and the Sox aren't going to the playoffs.

It would have been Portland, as usual, but they're on the road, thankfully. There's still thunderstorms possible so stay tuned.

Or in terms of something that, you know, actually matters? I've thought that when I'm just listening to radio. There doesn't seem to be much fan excitement going on in the background. If you look at lower levels like Lowell and Greenville, there are always promotions etc and their attendance, relative to level is always high. That doesn't seem to be the case in Salem. I've long thought the only good thing going on in Salem management was Evan Lepler, now I think he's also gone but I'm not sure about that either way. To me, the ideal model has to be the Greenville Drive and the job Eric Jerinco does there. When you listen or watch games there, there's always a lot of stuff going on in the background. Family kind of stuff, mascots, bands, games, contests, etc. That stuff brings families to baseball games. It takes more than just good players to be beneficial to baseball. Sorry for the rant and yes their not broadcasting games is aggravating, even more so when they had the perfect person to do that (Lepler), but it's also more than just that.

Moncada, Dubon, Benintendi, & Longhi begin the season with 4 consecutive singles for 2-0 lead. Devers then makes the first out.
EDIT: A Mars single and Procyshen 2B makes 4-0

This Salem lineup is stupid good. They batted around and when Moncada came back up, he had to go out to the first base coach to get his shinguard after giving it to him after leading off with a single.
Moncada and Benintendi will be in Portland by July. Conservatively.

On the not-so-good side of things, Chavis has a throwing E already

That's probably a safe bet. They're both advanced, albeit in different ways. Benitendi is a very polished college product, while Moncada cut his eye teeth - literally - in Cuba's Serie Nacional. That does put them a cut above in experience. It means they could both show up in AA at age 21 which is mind boggling.
