On the not-so-good side of things, Chavis has a throwing E already That led to a run which ultimately scored on the rare sacrifice double play. Nice heads up play by the catcher, Rei. The Drive are being no hit through two.

Ed Jensen talking about Kyri Washington turning heads in BP. Said he put three on top of the building across from the green monster.
Monge broke up the nono.
A J Basabe not in the game, Javier's brother De La is playing 2B.
Monge stole 2B then stole 3rd on a ball 4. Rivera then tied it with a double down the LF line.
1-1 after 3.

This Salem lineup is stupid good. They batted around and when Moncada came back up, he had to go out to the first base coach to get his shinguard after giving it to him after leading off with a single. Moncada and Benintendi will be in Portland by July. Conservatively. So good that it stopped MiLB from updating on my computer after the Procyshen double. I was wondering if they were in a delay.

Benintendi triple. This is fun. And a single. And a double.

Another inning ended on an unusual play, an unassisted double play by Ashville's third baseman.
The funny thing (to me) was that I was just about to post that Ockimey runs pretty good for a big man. Also it's pronounced Ocki-may not Ocki-me. It was Jensen that taught me Sw-Y-hart not Sw-ee-hart.
2-1 Drive down middle of the 5th. Kent pitching decently but Jensen usually doesn't give velocities or pitch types so it's all just a visual from limited camera angles. . . . Washington ripped one to deep deep center for an RBI triple. Could have been an inside parker if the third base coach didn't hold him. 2-2 after 5, the Drive couldn't score him from 3rd with no outs. . . . Kent getting hit harder in the 6th (double and three flyouts). Basbabe with a nice rangy play in deep CF. Rei is pronounced rye. Basabe with a second rangy catch, he seems to cover a lot of turf. 3-2 Ashville. . . . LOL, that time he said Ocki-me. Rei is pretty athletic looking for a catcher. Somewhat similar build to Swihart now.

LOL, Salem. I just hope they don't promote the whole team before I get a chance to see them.

Benny spraying the ball too. Two singles are to center, triple to right, double to left

LOL, Salem. I just hope they don't promote the whole team before I get a chance to see them. Same here! LOL, I'm hoping for the opposite for the same reasons as you guys. I'll be nice though and root for that though, I saw a lot of them last year at Greenville (on TV).

A nice play by the Ashville right fielder prevented De La Guerra from cleaning the bases. 4-3 Drive after 7. De La Guerra seems to have some pop for an A ball second baseman.

Drive win 4-3.
The following observations are based on a grand total of one game.
Basabe is not as skinny as I was expecting. Impressive in the field but didn't do anything that stood out in the batters box.
Rei looked good defensively and his 0fer hides some decent plate appearances.
Washington looked impressive, very. I didn't see him do anything defensively though.
Ockimey looked better on both sides of the ball than I was expecting.
Leclerc looked pretty decent, batters weren't squaring up. On the other hand, his strikes rarely hit the catcher target. At first, he was missing low which is better than missing high.

Tuning into the Portland game. Two things immediately obvious, someone needs to call the fashion police on the Fightins and they don't have any fans there. From the standard center field camera, there's a grand total of five fans in the picture, all in the front row.

Reading through the game log in Salem, it looks like Carolina has terrible right fielder.

Portland won 3-1. Fightins announcer doesn't give velocities and I only saw Wort from the pitchers. Skinny guy, throws a lot of fastballs but was consistently high in the zone. Escaped trouble for a save. Being fair, it would have been a shutout if Witte didn't misread a foul popup at 3B.
Romanski let a pitch through his legs for a wild pitch. For the Fightins, JP Crawford is a big athletic looking shortstop. He's going to mash when he makes the majors.
ADD: One more note on Wort. His delivery is typical of pitchers that start with the glove out and away from his face. He's pretty quick from set to pitch and seemed to generate a lot of swings and misses. He seems to hide the ball well. He seems like he's likely to be an all or nothing batter results pitcher with the question being more all or more nothing.

What's the farthest anyone who started at Salem (or high A) has made it in a single year in recent memory? AAA?
Mookie traversed 3 levels (AA - majors) in 3 months in 2014
