Just to be clear, I still hate knucleballers. In fact I think when we had Wakefield and DiceK I was clear here that I'd even take DiceK if I had to pick the poison. Not like I was rooting for Sox to lose or Wright to do poorly. Just don't like watching it when Sox are in the field. My thoughts exactly. I didn't watch Wake for about his last three years. Not surprised by what I see on this board. Majority of today's posts come in the 1st inning, when Wright's struggling, then...silence. Hey, Wright's knuckler provided arguably the best start of this young season, but keep whining about it. Y'all can wish for a "conventional #5 SP", but I'll gladly take Wright and the flexibility he provides to this staff. You won't be complaining when E-Rod returns, Wright is pushed to the pen, and saves the other pen arms by pitching innings 2-7 in just about every Clay Buchholz/Joe Kelly start. ADD: The Farrell complaining is justified though, CY getting the start against the righty makes no sense. Silence from me because I turned it off and went to a minor league game. I was watching the box though, knew he was doing well and still didn't want to watch it.

Chris Young cannot handle Estrada's offspeed stuff. To be fair, no one can.

Seems like offspeed is Castillo's specialty. It would seem pick a perfect game to start Castillo.

Chris Young is a Grizzled Veteran though with all the intangibles. He just has "it"
You know?

I see Chris Young is the scapegoat this year?

Young was the only position player on the roster who had yet to start a game (because of the string of righties they faced). It seems fair to try to get him a start even versus a RHP with that in mind.

I've never been a fan of Wright but I have to concede that he pitched extremely well today.

That why Chris Young is wrong for this team. All year long he's going to get starts against righties just so he gets playing time.
Also we need to trade Sandoval ASAP so Farrell will stop using him. If you can't trade him release him. #save our belts and team

If you can't trade him release him. #save our belts and team I am fine with Chris Young on this team. But only if he is able to play exclusively against lefties. He has gotten his pinch hitting spots so far. If he cannot go sometime without starting then he starts to become a poor fit for his role.

Mookie Betts is last among Red Sox position players with -0.2 WAR already. How much negative WAR are they going to let him rack up before they send him down to AAA?

I see Chris Young is the scapegoat this year? No. Its not his fault he is being used improperly and being put in a position to fail.

I think maybe Kelly should be moved to the pen. He could be great there. I agree with you, but wanted to know why you think that. What do you thin he brings to the bullpen that could make him great? Bullpen guys can usually get by with fewer pitches and take it up a notch with their fastball in shorter outings. Kelly is also a smaller guy and they tend not to hold up as well as far as injuries go. A fastball and a slider and I think Kelly could be a real weapon and a real improvement over Noe Ramirez. If Carson Smith comes back... Great, but someone else in that pen gets injured eventually I bet.

How fast do you think he can throw it in the bullpen? It probably doesn't matter if he's throwing 105 if hitters see it that well. What is the opposite of deception?

If he is coming out of the pen I'm guessing he faces fewer lefties and will be able to get by more on his fastball and slider, which he could really focus and hone in on.
I'm no expert just my two cents.
