I'm pumped to see how Roniel Raudes looks to start off 2016.
Also, curious to see if Teddy can take the next step forward with his consistency and show he has real potential to be a ML starter, even if it's just as a #4 or #5.
Beeks is also an interesting arm, but he's a bullpen arm to me.

Vazquez started out the season pretty well with hitting. 4 for 6 with 3 walks, or a .778 OBP.

Stank looking decent so far. FB 93 and change ups so far. I didn't see all the pitches so he might have thrown curves as well.
Rijo made an outstanding play on a grounder to his right.
Witte keeps rolling.
Thru 3, Dogs down 1-0. Stank has been very pitch efficient every inning. On the other hand, he's not missing a lot of bats. This is a pretty talented lineup he's facing.
Ramos with a solo shot 1-1 now.

At Salem, Beeks rolling. 0-0 in the 4th.
Moncada with another BB and SB. Oh, and also a triple.

Thru 5 Portland up 2-1. Stank only has 63 pitches, 49 for strikes.
amazing AB against him:
F F F B F F F B 2B
Thru 5 Salem still 0-0. SalSox only have 1 hit.
PawSox Cuevas got smoked in the 3rd and 5th. Down 8-1. Vazquez 3/4 is now hitting .667 with walks.

Roniel doin' his thing, granted Asheville hitters gave 3 outs on the base path, but his control and command as usual were on point: 5 IP, with a sexy 1/5 BB/K.

Thanks for posting these, btw. It's a great feature of this site. Glad to be doing it. Someone had to take over and live up to the precedent set by Jonathan Singer. It's like trying to follow Bill Belichick as coach of the Patriots.

Lots of prospects further down the totem pole who are off to decent starts. It's still very early but it would be nice to see some of these guys ride some helium and strengthen the depth of our system.
Nice to see guys like Chavis, Ockimey, Kyri Washington, and "no-slouch" Basabe off to decent starts.

Nice to see guys like Chavis, Ockimey, Kyri Washington, and "no-slouch" Basabe off to decent starts. I'm gonna go with NAS Basabe (Not A Slouch), or just NAS, for Alejandro. Meanwhile, Moncada already has four steals. Maybe we should start dusting off the Rickey Henderson comps.

Boxscore scouting warning:
PawSox lost 8-1 Portland lost 5-4 in 13 Salem lost game 1 5-0 in 11, won game 2 4-3 Greenville won 7-4
Moncada now has 4BB and 4SB in 4 games.
Rijo also went deep.
Both Rijo and Ramos only have 1 hit this year, a HR. Devers has 2, a HR and a 2B. Basabe, Luis Alex (how they do it in the boxscore notes) off the schnide with a HR, 3B & 1B.
Ockimey with a 2B and a HR.
Vazquez ended 3/4 raising his average to .667. He was the DH.
Ramos played CF as did Coyle again.
Solid pitching today by starters, Raudes, Beeks & Stankeiwicz
Solid pitching today by relievers, Alcantara, Marban & Taveras.
ADDS: Tavarez, Lin, Chavis and NAS Basabe also had a SB, the first for all 4.
Sturgeon, Witte, Procychen, Dubon, Mars, Chavis, Ockimey, Alex Basabe, Washington, Monge, Vazquez with crooked numbers in the hits column. Only Vazquez & Basabe had 3.
Cuevas, Light, Jerez, Drehoff & Grover with less than stellar pitching.
So far, early early season, Washington, Moncada & Witte have been our most consistent hitters. Contributions every day.

Raudes is ranked 33rd on this site. He may be the prospect to move up the highest in the rankings by season's end.

If I'm remembering the podcast correctly, paraphrasing, the guys said something along the lines of "Raudes has good control which will carry him against these guys, but can't get excited about him at all, overall meh and will probably not survive moving up the ladder."

The summary paragraph from the scouting scratch: With advanced feel for a curveball and ability to locate his fastball, it is easy to see why Raudes excelled in the complex leagues, but his stuff will be tested against more polished hitters who have seen a solid breaking ball before and will punish fastballs that miss location. Though he does not have the same upside as some of the other arms in the system, Raudes is an interesting prospect, and depending on how he develops physically, he could become more of a household name in coming seasons

Roniel Raudes Has anyone seen Dedgar J recently? Seems crazy that he's so age advanced with such limited stuff. Has been somewhat successful, though not overly so last year. I understand not ranking him, but then I also would understand if he were based on age advancement.

Yikes! temple hates pitching prospects so I'll wait and see how he develops. Seems like he'll spend entire season in low-A. He did pitch a lot of innings last year so he's good to go for a full season, barring injuries of course.
