I'm interested to see Johnson after his nerve issues last year.

CV keeps having real nice at bats: an 8 pitch walk. I keep believing that he'll have at least a league average bat at MLB, which is huge.

He's not going to be drawing walks in MLB when pitchers realize he has no power at all.

He's not going to be drawing walks in MLB when pitchers realize he has no power at all. Elvis andrus has a career 8.7% Walk rate with a .077 Iso although playing in a bandbox, CV has more power and he makes contact, this combination makes him a safer bet for me than Swihart. There I said it!

If a hitter can make contact, has a strike zone awareness, he'll draw walks(ADD: See Hanigan,Ryan carrer BB% 11.8 K% 11.6 Iso .084). Also, where do you get this idea that CV has a Ben Revere kind of power?

If Vazquez hits for Andrus' career 83 wRC+, he'd be an above-average starting catcher (think pre-breakout Yadier Molina-- he of the 84 wRC+ through the 2010 season).

Much rather think of Victor Martinez being a much better player that year that Monila had an all-time defense season.

Venezuelan Daniel Gonzalez had a nice game for Greenville, considering he turned 20 two months ago. 6.0ip 2h 0r 1bb 3k. He's 6'5" and supposedly not as skinny as he once was; does he still throw too softly?

The scouting report, based on last year's ST, describes a guy who could not possibly put up that line against low-A hitters. It was based on this writeup which warned us not to put too much stock in DSL stats - whereupon he was assigned to Lowell and had a very solid year despite being young for the league. Hopefully the scouting report will be updated some time this year. I doubt he's a prospect but it would be nice to know what he's doing to get hitters out.

Dante Bichette raking at Trenton. That brings back memories of long ago.
The Salem boys keep showing off. It appears Moncada was picked off twice. They were scored as CS but both throws were from pitchers.

I didn't know he still was playing until I saw that box score. He hasn't exactly been a clone of his father, who may have single-handedly been responsible for Denver having to do something to its baseballs. He also somehow fooled the Reds and the Red Sox into thinking he could duplicate his performance at sea level - although by today's standards he wasn't bad.

Any velocity reports on Johnson's FB, especially relative to the other pitchers? Wondering if the nerve stuff was sapping any power from his arm or not. Won't know from today with raw numbers since minor league guns are terrible, but maybe in relation to the other pitchers, we might learn something ...
