Very nice start to the year for some fringe guys (Stankiewicz, McAvoy, Raudes, Beeks, Ockimey, Alej Basabe, Chavis), which we really didn't see in the system last year. Very encouraging to see those kinds of performances deeper in the system.
Also, its hilarious that, so far, a coin flip has a worse chance of getting on base than Yoan Moncada in Hi-A.

Jordan Betts with a walkoff 9th inning 2 out double. 1-0 Portland. Combined shutout for Stank/Jerez/Ysla against a decent Trenton team. Drive still in extras, 4-4, 15th now. Robby Scott with 4 innings of 1 hit ball. 0-0 against Meyer. Who knew ?

Greenville bottom of the 16th now So far the system pitchers have pitched 38 innings. 5 runs, 3 earned. . . Travis just doubled in 2 runs, the first two given up by Meyer this year. 2-0 PawSox Ockimey just drew his 4th walk (intentional)

Robby Scott got the start for the PawSox. I wonder how long it's been since he got a start. Not that long, relatively. It wasn't even his first start for the PawSox.

Agreed....and I hate to read into too much this early on in the season...but if a half or 2/3 of these guys continue to exceed expectations, then the common critique of our system (lack of depth), doesn't necessarily hold true. A 10-20 that includes the guys you mentioned plus maybe Lakins, Ben Taylor, Dubon plus relief pitchers that perform well like Light, Shepard, and Yankory Pimental, all of a sudden doesn't look too bad. I'm very interested to see who can hold up.

Quite the day for Sox system pitching.

Just watched greenville at hickory, 17 innings. McEachrean (sp?), rhp, was the most impressive mlb prospect on the field today, imo. His delivery was smooth (injury-free). A control-freak throwing a 90 mph cutter. Kudos!

Moncada rocking a 23.6% walk rate. That's some Bryce Harper ****.

McAvoy, Stank and Wilkerson have been fun to watch in that rotation. Yes they've been but for obvious reasons, I'm interested solely in Stank here and I would really like to know what is he doing this year to have such results. New pitch? Velocity gains? Tweaked delivery? Hopefully, one of our guys can catch him live and tell us what changed. Here's an article that pretty much nails it: www.pressherald.com/2016/04/20/on-baseball-this-red-sox-prospect-is-in-control/ADD: Exchange right arm for a left arm, make his slider be his curve and make his curve be his slider and you've just Weird Scienced Brian Johnson.

I have no idea what's changed since he was at Salem last year and they don't do TV. He's pretty much throwing any of his pitches in any count and locating well when it matters. He uses both sides of the plate with his fastball. He gets a lot of called strikes and the opponents aren't making solid contact. Well it's been noted he completely changed his delivery this year. Could just be deception. According to the article, a minor tweak returning the arm slot to 2014. It had drifted away.

Would be great to get eyes on Stankiewicz. If someone wanted to know my wishlist, that'd be it.

If Sam Travis keeps hitting like he has so far, he could step into the starting 1B position with the Sox next year if Shaw is kept at 3B. Then there will be a jam in the OF with Moncada and Benintendi getting close.

In a year or 2 we may have 3 Mike Trouts running around out there....My only concern is 1B & 3B. Shaw has put up the numbers & Travis looks good in AAA....They seem to me more like the David Freese, & Brandon Belt types. As we are the RS, we are looking more to have an Encarnation, AGon, Beltre, Longoria type. I know these guys costs money & all that, just think your corner IF should strike more fear into the opponent.
