Wow that pitch he struck out Correa on....that's the Buchholz I like to see!

Wouldn't it make more sense to give Bogaerts the day off against a lefty? The dropoff from Bogaerts to Young vs a LHP is much smaller (Young might even be better) than vs a RHP. I guess you would be sitting Holt in that situation though. I don't know. Like, I'm just baffled as to why, less than 20 games into the season, Chris Young already has like four starts against a RHP. It's enraging.

I think Xander is wearing a cast, though. At least that's what it appeared to be on TV.

Though I agree with your general sentiment, Bogaerts likely got the day off because he got nailed with a pitch in the wrist in his last AB last night and is probably dealing with some residual soreness today. On an unrelated note, Clay Buchholz is so fun to watch when he is commanding all of his pitches.

Lots of solid contact right at people for the offense.

And getting squeezed in that AB sure came back to bite hard.

Vasquez should've sprinted to right and stolen that one. Where is this "defensive value" I hear so much about.

That was a horrible call on the fastball.

Ump had been squeezing Buch all game. Meanwhile the same borderline pitches were being called strike 3s against Sox hitters.

I'm not watching NESN but I imagine someone complimented Brock on making a "great out" there?

Anyway it's pretty terrible roster construction that we don't have another lefty available.
