Getting out of that jam was huge for Light.

The Pat Light experience. I actually thought of Nuke LaLoosh when he threw that six-foot-six fastball.

Once the jitters went away Light lived on the black and got some real weak contact. Nice job by him stopping the damage.

Good to see Pat get out of jam. Defiantly started hitting his spots after he settled in. No doubt some nerves came into play making his MLB debut. With so much insurance though that was a great time to get him in and have him some experience

Nice win tonight.
Still worried about price's pitches, but very glad Atlanta did not take advantage,

Little deception in his delivery. That might be the reason his mid 90 fastball is hittable.

We just need couple more games with near double digit leads for Pat to work out the kinks

Can you imagine playing the Braves and Phillies 19 times each? That's got to be 30 wins right there for the Nats and Mets

I was surprised to see Price come out for the eighth inning and push his pitch count so far past 100. I was actually hoping going into this game that they might have enough of a lead to get him out after six, so that he'd be strong for the MFY Sunday night.
And Pat Light - wow. If you started Owens and let him go four and then brought in Light, the game would be four hours long by the end of the sixth.

The Pat Light experience. I actually thought of Nuke LaLoosh when he threw that six-foot-six fastball. I thought of the opposite of Nuke LaLoosh when he gave his post-game interview. No mention of the defense or the win the team got. Just about him. I mean, it's kind of a nice story, but at least say that the important thing was winning the game or whatever.

If the Sox can take advantage of these next two games against the soft Braves then April will have been pretty respectable, with Smith and E Rod on the way!

Not sure if I would call first place in the division only "pretty respectable", it would be pretty fantastic especially with how a lot of guys underperformed.

The Red Sox now lead the American League in runs scored and it isn't particularly close. They are averaging 5.1 runs/game. Texas (4.38) and Toronto (4.14) are the only teams within a run.

Funny thing is, Mookie's just started heating up, JBJ has struggled, Bogey's been just so-so (at least, until tonight), Hanley's pretty cold, and Papi hasn't really gotten hot either. Pedey and Shaw are the only guys who've performed above expectations, and Pedey's not exactly crushing the ball. They're also leading MLB, I believe, in K/9, despite some pretty erratic starting pitching. And Smith and Rodriguez are due back soon. They're looking to be in pretty good shape. The really crazy thing is that they've potentially got reinforcements in Travis, Benintendi, and Moncada come August or so. They've also got enough depth that they could potentially either package players for a piece at the deadline, or trade role players away for prospects and promote from within. Kind of looking like the Cubs did last year.

Yeah, the offense has been ridiculous, even against tougher opponents (hint: that doesn't include this edition of the Braves). There are decent bats at almost every spot in the lineup, and some very good ones scattered throughout. Betts has hit the ball on the screws and yet has little to show for it over the past two nights. It's hardly mattered as they've been launching XBHs every which way. Bogaerts is such a cerebral hitter. After last year's extended exercise in going the other way, he's now mixing in shots to the pull side. The options for pitchers facing this guy are narrowing very quickly. He's made himself into a dangerous hitter. Betts has modified his approach on outside stuff, stepping into pitches instead of trying to pull everything, sending liners out to right field instead of those lazy fly balls. That's something he did quite a bit of in the minors, so it's nothing new. He just needed a little practice. Great fun watching these guys, and that's before we talk about Shaw who just keeps slugging. He looks set to replicate last year's line and then some. I don't think the team could ask for much more.
Add: I'd ask people who are judging the team on all of 20 games, to pull back a little. Do scouting on the players (see jmei's post on how hard Hanley has hit the ball) rather than rely solely on pure stat lines. Those won't start to stabilize for a while yet. If you take a 10,000 foot overview, this is an offensive machine that will produce a lot of runs. They also did their damage tonight without Ortiz. That guy puts a warp in spacetime around his lineup spot when he's in there. Putting up crooked numbers won't be a problem for this team.
One more thing. Price did tonight what I've seen him do over and over again in his career. He got better as the night wore on. There will be a lot more of that, I'll bet.

Papi hasn't really gotten hot either. Hrm? Agree with the rest of your post, but... Holt also deserves mention as someone playing at least up to expectations. Also, while the lineup has had some players with middling performances (at least relative to expectations), they've been quite healthy, limiting the need to eat into depth for significant at-bats.

Thank god a starter got through 8 innings. The average number of pitches thrown per inning by starters in the MLB has gotten so ridiculous.
