You picked a nice game to go to Brian. Yeah, that was nearly a perfect minor league baseball experience. Not many fans there, and we were sitting right next to the on-deck circle for the Sox, my 10 year-old basically had the run of the place. Guys next to me were Sox fans originally from Amherst NH, and they were chattering happy talk at the Sox players waiting to bat all night. We all built up a nice little relationship with Dubon by the end of the night; after his first hit of the night Mauricio told us, "you guys are more enthusiastic than my family when I get a hit." When he hit a bases loaded single to score two, we went nuts, dancing and yelling, "DUBIE!!!!" and he grinned at us from first base. Nice kid, autographed a ball for my son ... who got two baseballs, so it was a banner night for him. And the baseball was classic minor league ball, some really top-notch plays on defense, extremely impressive hitting from some really talented players (Devers and Benintendi's home runs were true blasts), along with a scattering of shockingly terrible defense by the Sox and a string of awful pitching from the Keys. Yoan Moncada had a *terrible* game but looked great doing it. I'll have some more useful observations about players later ... I swear Benintendi's ball never came down, so if you see a ball fly past you today about 40 feet off the ground, it'll be his home run.

Oh, and here's some breaking news: Trey Ball (also a very pleasant young man) was there charting pitches and said after the game that he was scheduled to pitch today.

So glad to hear about Devers. I have a vision of this team. I was starting to think Devers is the future Ortiz in that he is gonna have the homer power eventually. Which we all know can take a little longer to develope. I can not wait for Kopech to get healthy and see all five of these stars shine.
Also side note ever since spring training I noticed Dubon more and more. Longhi also. Espinoza and Roudes and I am dying to start see Acosta because they also invested good bonus in him. It's impressive other teams have prospects graduate them and they fall off but the Sox have sustained for a while. I hope next season in the international market they can kick ass again. I feel this is there strong suit.

I'm glad Devers K/BB is so strong despite his slow start. This is the second year where he's had a pretty significant stretch of sub .200 BABIP ball. That has to be tough on someone who's already so age advanced.

Good stuff Brian, thanks for that. I'm happy for your boy he'll probably be a fan for life. Oh, he's already a huge baseball and Red Sox fan, and he's been to a bunch of games, both majors and minors. But after last night, he said, "that was the best game I've ever been to." Early season minor league baseball really is the best.

Really glad Devers has a big night. 2-4, HR, 2B, BB. Keep it up big guy. Worth noting that Devers has the second-lowest BABIP in the system. I'm not worried about him. His BABIP is below his LD%, which MiL batted-ball caveats and all is still indicative of a coming correction.

Early season minor league baseball really is the best. I'm with you Brian. I take my daughter to many Winston-Salem games every year to watch Salem when they come to town. She's 13 now. Up until a few years ago, she wanted to spend all her time in the kiddie area with the blow-up slides, merry go round, ect. Something clicked when she was about 10, & now she really gets into the ballgame. It also helped around 2013 when all those blue chip prospects were coming thru.
