Hot take: David Price isn't very good. 10 Ks, 1 ER and velo jumping back up to 95. Yeah it's 90 pitches through 5 innings and the free swinging Astros but I'll take it. EDIT;: 11 Ks, 6 Innings. Yea, because he got good again.

People in Boston in general tend to be too negative about the Sox and too optimistic about the Patriots.

I may be a total moron but I don't think you need to get relief pitchers work for the sake of it. If Tazawa goes ten games without being needed, so be it. Get him some bullpen sessions to stay loose and in rhythm if needs be, but to force him into a 7 run game is extremely shortsighted. Uehara, kimbrel and tazawa should be getting as much rest as is possible.

People in Boston in general tend to be too negative about the Sox and too optimistic about the Patriots. They have a reason to be optimistic about the Pats, they are literally in the AFCC every year. I think ppl are too optimistic about the Celtics, w/o having a reason to be.

The Patriots have only won once in the last ten years, Brady is suspended, first round pick was stripped and the o line is pretty bad.

I think the Celtics get a bit of a pass partly because it's the one league where you need a substantial amount or luck to be successful and also they have more banners than any other organization.

Tazawa in another blowout game. This is getting frustrating.

Hard to get mad at a 7 pitch outing from Tazawa, but if they need him tomorrow and then he's unavailable the following game because he had to get work in an 8 run game that's just really poor managing. Unreal that there exists some universe where John Farrell manages two Red Sox world series winners.

I just noticed, the Red Sox have 3 of their IFs in the top 25 of batters in fWAR.
Xander Bogaerts ranks t-8th (tied with Josh Donaldson) Travis Shaw ranks t-17th (tied with one David Ortiz) Dustin Pedroia ranked t-24th (tied with Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun)

So is this team going to average 10 runs the rest of the way? That would be pretty cool.

Man, I could pitch for the Red Sox and they'd have a chance to win.
Also, Willis owes his paycheck to Pedroia.

Tigers blew a 4 run lead to the O's. As good as we've been, we've been unable to shake the O's.

Yeah, they've won what, 15 of 17 AFC East titles? MFYs from '95-'09 had a better run though, in arguably a tougher environment. That said, I like the chances for this Sox team to have similar high-level sustained success, given their terrific 26-and-under core, and their minor league system. Not to mention some emerging arms in the 'pen, Price and Porcello locked up for a few years, and an amazing depth/utility player in Holt (yeah, he fits the 26-and-under group, but I felt like singling him out).

Tough night for the offense, only putting up 11, but Price's return to form makes it OK.

This is the first time this season that price had filthy movement in his pitches. If he is right going forward, we have a chance to be a very dangerous team this year.

The only team that can beat the Boston Red Sox right now is The Salem Red Sox.

With Lance McCullers making his first start of the season tomorrow, and after a limited rehab, I expect more runs.
