Everything went south quickly for Buttrey in the 5th, was having a solid start before that.
Brakeman has let up a run so far in two innings, but has struck out 5 of 6 batters he's faced.

Henry Owens needs to be phantom DL'd and sent to Mike Boyle's strength and conditioning.

Ockimey has made a few great picks at first today as well, looks really comfortable in the field from what my untrained eyes see.
6 innings, 1 ER and 9ks for Brakeman. Easily the best I've seen him this season.

Does anyone know exactly how many Marrero's there are floating around the minor leagues?

Jayce Ray, now batting 5th for Greenville, off to a good start in his career in the Red Sox organizations. Obviously still a long, long shot - sort of like Nava.

Ockimey is hitting the other way more often. His oppo power is great.

After that shaky start, Owens really turned it around. Retired his final 10 batters.
I've always been impressed by his poise. I saw a playoff game a couple years back when he'd just been promoted to Triple-A. He had a terrible second inning, but he never seemed to get rattled or lose focus and he soon straightened out and end up getting the win despite what was overall a pretty mediocre line. So whether his stuff is good enough to play is an fair and open question, but I like his chances to get the most out of it.

Ah OK, saw it featured in the page where the scores are. Didn't notice the date. I saw the first game was to be a continuation game. Strange that it's the top featured story a month later on the affiliate scores page.

I'm curious to know why they seem to have scheduled DH's in the pre season schedule for the GCL season. Found 1 1st week of the season, tho this one is for the Marlins: Marlins DHRains enough in Florida during the summer as it is without scheduling 2 games in the afternoon I'd think. Hope get to see some of the good kids in action in July when we have a week scheduled at The Fort. Another in mid August.

Trent Kemp is quietly seeing his numbers rise as of late. Still a TON of strikeouts but it is at least something to monitor when checking the GVILLE box score on a daily basis. When he does make contact it seems like he can impact the ball.
Seems like there is some raw power in Greenville between Kemp, Ockimey, Washington, and Chavis.

Not his best stuff, but he worked through it.

Really liked the Kemp pick but he has been disappointing. Can't make contact and his power isn't close to making up for that. 120 wRC+ is good but 38% K rate is astronomical. He's got to shorten that swing because even if he doesn't hit many home runs he will definitely have solid pop. Also his speed must have diminished a bit since HS.

I'm sure it's outsourced but the point still stands. I'm sure whoever is doing their #sponsored #content is presumably getting paid well enough to create a program that produces timely/relevant links.

Thread title suggests Moncada with a day of rest. In fact, entire Salem team has a day of rest. As to the family Marrero, Chris is putting a nice season together for Pawtucket showed some power. Good to have his experience in the system for depth.

FWIW, even though milb.com is actually wrong on this, Chris and Christian are brothers, and Deven is their cousin. I think.
And yeah, Chris is having a very nice season. The Travis injury probably makes him a legit candidate to be called up if the situation were right (need RH bench bat, for example), even if only because they wouldn't lose sleep if he were claimed off waivers afterward. At the very least, he's ahead of his cousin, who looks lost at the plate and strangely mediocre on defense.
