I'm not sure what's up but box has Moncada with one double. I think he has two. . . . Box says single and fielding error on the CF. Not crazy about that scoring decision. The CF had a one hop bounce off of his glove and go past him, should have been a single if he fielded it cleanly.

Tyler Hill drives in the game winning run again, and the Spinners are now 6-0.

Does Romanski still project as a back-up, or are people starting to see him more as a potential starter? His footwork was clunky when I saw him last year, but I haven't seen him since and didn't know if that and his blocking reactions/skills had improved. Anyone seen him live multiple times this year?

He puts good contact on the ball and doesn't strike out much, but he also doesn't draw many walks and the majority of his base hits are through the holes in the infield. He likely deserves a call up to AAA at some point this year but I don't think he's going to survive against higher level pitching in the end. He could end up as a Leon type 3rd catcher in my opinion.

Sounds like a pretty impressive performance by Moncada against a top prospect in just his second AA game. Does he have the upside of Bogaerts with even more potential?

Ryan Boldt is playing against Lowell today. Hitting 1000 so far. Didn't take him long to sign this time. For 100k under slot...

Hard to tell what these guys will become, but Moncada's a more explosive athlete, a lot faster than Bogaerts. He's not the defender Bogaerts was even at A+ level, and Bogaerts improved *enormously* as he went up the ladder, so he won't match Bogaerts's value defensively. But I think it's hard to project at the super-elite level. Bogaerts is possibly in the top 4-5 players in baseball right now as a 23 year old. Moncada has the potential to get there, too, and maybe be even better offensively with his speed and power combination, but who knows? It's a really, really high bar.

I know it's a SSS, but I sense Leon is earning himself more starts over CV.

I was at the game and Moncada was on every pitch. His first out was smoked but right at the well positioned 2nd basemen, and was loud off the bat. I know Giolito gave up more than his typical runs, but he is impressive in person and most seemed overwhelmed early in the game, with the exception of Moncada. Benny's first at bat was better than most but was under the ball on his swing and so it was a very soft fly out. Moncada was the only batter that looked particularly comfortable in the batters box. Moncada's single would have been a double if their CF wasn't so fast!

Yeah it really depends on what timeframe of Bogaerts you're talking about. Bogaerts was a top-two prospect in the game at his peak, so no, Moncada doesn't have more upside than THAT Bogaerts.
