Who says no? We are a little thin in corner infield depth, but I think this is a trade worth making. The Nationals have solid starter depth and need someone to platoon with Ryan Zimmerman and someone that can spell Anthony Rendon occasionally. Shaw is the perfect fit for them. Roark would really solidify the back end of our rotation. Thoughts?

It seems like a reasonable proposal, but I like the approach of the Aaron Hill trade - getting a solid player and person to help on the field and in the clubhouse for a package that offers little risk. Gio Gonzalez and Jeremy Hellickson may be options that fit this approach.

I heard the other day on mlb radio that if Washington had an injury at a corner they'd just move Murphy there and insert Tre Turner at 2B. I think it would be pretty fair but unlikely.
I think any trade with Shaw would be in the offseason.

Roark has a solid 4 pitch mix which I like, and has 3 years of control remaining, but his K/9 in our division would be below 6. Would I like him as a 5th starter? Sure. Would I trade Shaw, who has 5 years left of control and looks to be a 3+ WAR player? No, I think we'd pass.
It's really hard for me to trust low K% starters coming from the NL to the AL. Especially one from the NL East and West, which have a ton of pitcher friendly parks.

The Mets, Phillies, and Braves are arguably the three worst offensive teams in baseball. And the Marlins aren't exactly striking fear in pitchers' hearts. I take any NL East pitcher's stats this year with a salt-lick sized block of salt.

I dont want Tanner Roark on the red sox because its so frustrating for me to try to say his name. Almost blood boiling.

Perhaps a mod can move all of the Hellboy discussion into the Hellboy thread.

As suggested, I moved some Hellickson discussion to that thread.
