I wonder if E Rod is a candidate to start for Boston on the 19th or on the 23rd.

"No BJ" is always a sad story.
Innuendo aside, I hope he's ok and we see him on the bump soon.

I remember Brian's mother telling Steve during his 1st game back that he'll start in Lowell next week.

Nice outing from the GCL pitchers outside of Watt today, but as I always say, GCL stats are practically worthless because of the fact it's essentially a four-team league they play in. The Twins are hitting .211/.279/.275 as a club so far in 13 games. Tough to take much from a pitcher shutting that lineup down.

Reed Gragnani up to Salem from the GCL, per Salem twitter account.

The 9th inning of the DSL RS1 game is a great microcosm of the level of play in the DSL.

Are the pitchers' lines so good because the bats are so bad.....or are the bats' lines so bad because the pitchers are so good? I guess we'll never know...

Moncada goes deep again. Wants to live up to that #1 prospect status

Matt Langone @mattlangone Well, that's it for Brandon Workman. Leaves with apparent injury with a 3-1 count on hitter, no outs and bases loaded.

Workman already out of the game in Lowell, perhaps injury-related -- the trainer went to the mound with the manager when he came out. He looked uncomfortable the whole time he was out there, pacing the mound between pitches.
The pitching line is going to look pretty ugly (no outs recorded), but he really only gave up one legitimate hit, and was hurt by an error and a questionable call at second base.

Did it look like his elbow or what?

“@mattlangone: For those asking, Brandon Workman’s fastball topped out at 91.”

Alex Speier @alexspeier 1m1 minute ago Yoan Moncada went 2-for-4 with his 4th homer of July. He's now hitting .444/.500/1.037 in 7 games this month for Double A Portland.
Alex Speier @alexspeier 11m11 minutes ago Portland manager Carlos Febles on Moncada: 'He's in a different class, to be honest.'

... Alex Speier @alexspeier 11m11 minutes ago Portland manager Carlos Febles on Moncada: 'He's in a different class, to be honest.' It's been mentioned before. He's very much in the vein of athletic bodies that end up playing football or running track in the States. If he'd grown up here that might very well be where he'd be headed. Watching him circle the bases on the inside-the-park job was stunning. The guy has serious jets.

He's getting closer and closer.... I'm right on the edge. Just one more triple should do it. How much longer is Chavis in Salem? K% down to 19, BB% up to 7.2 and he's pushing 650 PA in Salem.

From Law's chat yesterday:
Doug: Good chance Benintendi heads to Pawtucket after the Futures game? Klaw: I don’t believe so, although given what he’s doing in AA, I say now, as I said in the spring, he could help Boston this year.
ADD: Pawtucket doesn't have a monster.
