Wow Longoria is just frightening. There are so man scary hitters in the AL East. I get a little worried every time Longoria, Machado, Davis, Donaldson, Bautista and Encarnacion step in. Luckily, there aren't any Yankees on that list

I don't see the post games, I'll be curious to see why he used the pen like he did.

Man, with this pitching staff, you can never have enough runs on the board.

“@jmastrodonato: Grade 1 ankle sprain for Brock Holt. He’s in a boot right now. Red Sox will know more tomorrow.” “@peteabe: Kimbrel (left knee) and Tazawa (shoulder) were not available”

“@bradfo: Kimbrel unavailable due to knee issue felt during BP. Will probably be unavailable for ASG. Went for mri”

... “@peteabe: Kimbrel (left knee) and Tazawa (shoulder) were not available” Well, that answers a few questions. All of the critics ready to take it all back?... I thought not.

Bryce Brentz's potentially overinflated phillies trade value continues to potentially skyrocket.

O'Sullivan third time through the order is probably like a 9 ERA pitcher. Career, batters third time up: .360/.417/.619. Absolutely unreal that this guy is an option to throw a single pitch for a major league team, let alone allowed to face a batter a third time in a game. When Farrell makes the conscious (alleged) decision to leave O'Sullivan in to face a batter for the third time he is making the intentional decision of turning every batter into Barry Bonds. I hate this man with my entire being. OSullivan's faced 1440 batters in his career and posted a 5.67 ERA in the process. Why is this guy even in the organization? Nothing about his career makes any sense. He has no redeeming quality and his stuff is trash so why does he keep getting shots?

This team can't possibly come out of the AS break with O'Sullivan and Buchholz as the 4/5 starters, can they? Are they just praying to get to the deadline without any more implosions in fear of overpaying someone now?

If I didn't know any better I would say that John Farrell didn't pull O'Sullivan because he knew he had two relievers unavailable and needed as many outs from his starter as possible.
Nah, he's probably just incompetent.

It won't happen (note: I thought something was fishy with the slow hook) but wanted to wait till post game before chastising him

It won't happen (note: I thought something was fishy with the slow hook) but wanted to wait till post game before chastising him While we've read and respected each other's posts for a long time, I have to wonder why you seem to love protecting the Farrell regime so much. Managers only have so much of an effect on the game. I know that. On the other hand, people always complain about the manager because it's the position they feel like they could do better. It will happen even if Boston had the best manager ever. I think this complaining (annoying as it may be) is no more common that it has been for any other manager. So why defend him actively? I'm not saying Farrell is the worst manager ever. But the way you vehemently defend him makes it seem like he is wrongly accused of being a bad manager, which in my opinion, he is not. He's one of the worst in the game currently. Again, no disrespect, I'm genuinely curious. I've always like getting your opinions so I'm not saying this in jest.

I don't see how it matters. Every other reliever was available and they're all better than O'Sullivan the third time through.

Its almost as if Farrell shouldn't have used Tazawa in those games with 5-7 run leads...

Every other reliever was available and they're all better than O'Sullivan the third time through. I'm not a fan of Farrell, but he does have two more games before the break. That has to count for something. He may need Barnes, Ross, and Uehara along with a few others before the weekend is out. I agree that Luvullo appears to be a better in-game manager from what we saw last year, but this wasn't Farrell's worst decision given the circumstances. The constant carping about the guy, win or lose is really old, also.

John Farrell is clearly the best manager we've had since Terry Francona.

Nah, he's probably just incompetent. Your correct. But, Farrell should have had an arm warming so it did not get to a bases loaded situation given the track record of the pitcher.

Kimbrel DL'd, Noe Ramirez up. Martinez added to the active roster, Hernandez sent down. Rob Bradford @bradfo 8m8 minutes ago Zeigler won't be available today, with Noe Ramirez here. Kimbrel injury was product of shagging during BP yesterday Scott Lauber @scottlauber 7m7 minutes ago Brock Holt (ankle) and Junichi Tazawa (shoulder) unlikely to be available before All-Star break, but not headed to DL either. Maureen Mullen @maureenamullen 8m8 minutes ago Workman L oblique strain last nite in TJ rehab. Evan Drellich evandrellich 9m9 minutes ago Holt won't be back before the break Farrell said. Tazawa probably won't either. Rob Bradford @bradfo 11m11 minutes ago In Kimbrel's absence will close with both Koji and Zeigler according to Farrell

I think Z will do well in the absence but Kojii needs to be treated like he's one pitch away from TJ .
