Kelly as a AAA starter on rehab: 60.0% strikes, .273 K rate.
In two relief appearances: 67.4% strikes, 7 of 11 batters fanned.

Hopefully he's found his niche in the BP. Shame to waste that talent.

I would prefer not to give up a Basabe, Ockimey, or even Chavis type of prospect for a Brewers reliever, so hopefully Kelly can finally make himself useful.

Kimbrel, Uehara, Ziegler, Tazawa, Barnes, Ross, and your choice of Kelly, Hembree, Layne, and Buchholz. Where exactly is the need for another reliever? If that's not convincing, add the fact that Cafardo said they "obviously" need one.

There's work to be done (besides sliding over to 3B). Kevin Thomas @clearthebases 2h2 hours ago Maine, USA Interesting game for Moncada. Batting left-handed: Two home runs. Batting right-handed: 0-for-3, 2 strikeouts. Overall vs. LHP: 2-15, 9 Ks This. Moncada is, frankly, a nice litmus test for national writers right now. When you see certain writers point to his overall line and say things like "clearly he's got nothing left to do at the level," they're scouting his stat line and nothing else. I know I've confirmed some speculation I had on certain guys this season when they were saying that about him when he was raking in Salem overall but his RHH line was crap. FWIW, I think Kevin had a typo - MILB.com has him at 2-14 vs. LHP. Might actually be worse considering the 9 k is correct. Not like he needs to give up switch hitting or anything - it's 17 PA after all - just that he needs some time, as stated.

It's tough for fast rising switch hitters to get enough plate appearances against LHP and move up at a reasonable pace. I mean if he only face 3 lefties for the rest of the year does he stay down the entire time even if he's OPS'ing 1.500 vs. RHP? He's getting about 4 times more work vs. RHP. Can he face any simulated PAs in practice?
