And we better not let him off the hook. Looking at you Dombrowski.

Beeks' FIP for his last 10 starts (5 at Salem):
6.53, 7.40, 1.80, 2.03, 3.41; -0.20, 6.20, 3.20, 3.00, 6.20.
Feast or famine: six starts with a combined 2.13 and 4 with a 6.56. He's given up 2 HR three times and 1 HR just once -- the latter in the only start where he didn't have more SO than BB.

Kopech needs to still develop his changeup if he's going to be a #2 or 3 type SP. But with what he has now for stuff he could be a high leverage reliever within a year.

I am going to be in box 106 or 107. 7.25pm, Moncada and Beni in today's lineup, whew!

Considering Kopech throws more pitches in the zone than Clayton Kershaw the batters must be literally standing on top of the plate tonight.

Moncada awesome leaping catch in 4th of a line drive. Getting mostly off speed stuff. Hit a fb hard but foul. 7th, Moncada fly out on 95 fb.

Devers is playing out of his mind right now. He hit his home run quite a long way, over the batters eye just to the left of straight away center. Fence is 400 feet away there, so he must've hit it at least 430-440 feet. Kid's got some power. Kopech wasn't quite as much fun to watch, though, labored through most of his outing. Chris had a better vantage point than I did to actually see the pitches, but there were a lot of guys walking to first during Kopech's time in the game, some of them shaking various appendages in pain. Couple other items of note from the game: there were monkeys riding border collies herding goats between innings, although really the goats spent the whole time trying to get back to their trailer-pen on their own. Also, at one point there was a pop up in foul ground about halfway down the third base line. Keys catcher drifts over holding his mask, looking up with the ball descending, and, as they teach you, fires the mask right into the third baseman's groin as the poor third baseman settles under the ball. In an act of true heroism, the third baseman still manages to catch the pop up, an act not sufficiently cheered by the crowd, in my opinion.

Oh, one other note from the game: I went with my wife and younger son. She doesn't care much about baseball outside of loving Bull Durham, so watching Kopech pitch to one batter - walking him on four straight 96+mph fastballs - she labeled him Nuke Laloosh immediately. When Kopech nailed a Keys batter in the hand, she called out, "Nuuuuke!" She was delighted when I told her why Kopech missed the first couple of months of the season. "See!!" she said triumphantly.
