So at this date in time it looks like clay stays and has his option picked up. Then the decisions start coming.
He is the insurance and 6th starter for all of next year and the sox have to look at whether they offer another 1 yr deal or give him a QO.
They sign him and this winter they trade him for prospects or bullpen help.
They trade him in ST to a team that is desperate for SP.
They trade him at the july deadline.
All options look like they will give the sox a promising payback.

Considering that our AAA pitchers need more time, Clay is more valuable to us than someone else. I would keep him, possibly through 2018, then see what's available as free agents

Unless we sign Rich Hill I agree that we need to keep Clay. Then again with Hill's injury issues we would still need Clay.

Wait....I thought it was an arm slot thing. I have been on the record.....but if he pitches well in the post season...it's 85-90% he'd be back. Then I would have to bow down to the master......bigpupp...please DD...get rid of him.
