BA is surveying mangers and coaches in a variety of categories. From the Carolina League, Sox results: Best Hitter Moncada Baserunner Moncada Fastball Kopech Defensive 1B Longhi Defensive 2B Moncada Defensive 3B Devers Most Exciting Player Moncada www.baseballamerica.com/minors/high-class-best-tools/#6mT2EFRzqkrE6br1.97My comment.... The view of Devers has changed dramatically. Raise your hand if you thought a year ago Devers would be listed here.

It's always nice to see further confirmation that Devers' defense has improved, but for both Moncada and Devers this feels a little Lavarnway-ish.

One thing to keep in mind is that the competition is high 'A' players.

Not that I made the claim, but their comments from scouts last year that he had made real strides playing 3B. I'm not too surprised. Also, it's a relatively small league if I'm not mistaken.

Devers leads the league in both versions of FRAA (Clay Davenport's original and BP's revision) and has a lot of anecdotal support to add to the pro scouting take -- the percentage of folks on this board who caught a Salem game and saw him make an outstanding play is so high that he's either been very lucky or he's been as good as the metrics say he is.

No, I mean Devers...

It's true though, Devers' metrics are outstanding at 3B this year.

I think just power you have Devers and Josh Ok. I don't know if it will translate to the Boston team but I hope DD holds on to these two including the usual prospects.

Moncada made 3 errors at 2nd last night before the injury. Have they moved him to 3rd or the outfield yet? For the next 2 or 3 seasons it looks like he is blocked at 2nd. Like mookie. if he is that good you find a place for him to play. But when.
