To be fair, this year's Olympics are a mess.

The Olympics' opening ceremony starts in 30 minutes, about 20 miles from where I live and I'm much more interested in the counter move to this waiver claim. Maybe I should get my priorities straight. ?? Tim Britton @timbritton 2h2 hours ago Hanigan heard a pop in his left ankle last night. Available in an emergency tonight, but sure seems like a DL stint tomorrow. Seems like convenient timing.

Have to think Hanigan gets released or is hurt. Holaday is out of options. Pete Abraham @peteabe 3h3 hours ago Sox saying Hanigan has a left ankle injury.

Sounds like something that every 35 year old catcher probably has. I am more surprised that he is paid $3.7 million salary this year plus a $3.75 million option for 2017 ($800 k buyout).

I think hanigan was the bridge the last 2 years to cv and swihart. In today's market 3.7 mil is a cheap insurance policy. I think now leon has taken hanigan's spot, so I think the new guy holds his spot on the roster for the rest of the season. Then in September cv gets called up. Next season will be interesting and maybe this winter as well to see what the sox do with leon, cv, and swihart. I am a little surprised they have not brought up butler.
