This man needs to be in our bullpen. Hembree has retired 26 of the last 27 Triple-A batters he has faced, while striking out 16 of those 27 hitters. As much as i personally like Brentz who's hitting .279 in 61 at bats despite this threat acting like he's one of the worst players in baseball, we should really consider swapping these 2. Hembree can contribute and keep our pens arms fresh.

He might be a passable 5th outfielder on a second-division team. Hembree was sent down because he was struggling. He's never made the leap to MLB successfully for an extended period, but he did have some excellent stretches this year. He'll probably get another shot once Benintendi is full-time in LF. Or, they may just wait for roster expansion. But I agree with you that he's better use of a roster spot at this point.

I would give him a chance now and see if he can handle it for the extended period mentioned above. If not then look at trading him this winter, maybe for a lefty power guy and see what happens. It seems that the sox have several options to look at for the future and Brentz does not seem to be a viable one. Make a switch seems like the best option right now.

As such Brentz will be going down and no place for Hembree on the 25 man there.

You've got to give HH lots of credit for making the best of his demotion. He has been nothing short of sensational, getting six saves and pitching to a 0.00 era. We should see him in September, if not before.

There's no spot on the current staff for Hembree, but he is, right now, terrific insurance against any pitching injury (if there's a starter injury, Buchholz goes to the rotation). That's the sort of depth in August that can help you win your division. And in September he ought to be another weapon.

He did a great job for the Sox in the first half. Just couldn't get anyone out following the All-Star break. He will surely be back.

If you stay with 12 pitchers you would have him replace someone in the bullpen. 7 in the pen, kimbrel, zieglar ,taz and barnes I think not. But maybe. Leaves ross, abad and clay. Ross and abad are your only lefties. Could drop one of these guys. Be short on lefties but other teams have done it. clay is long relief. Clay would have to go on ir or clear waivers. Interesting puzzle to fit him into.

Interesting puzzle to fit him into. The last two guys in the pen are Abad and Buchholz, and there's s no way on earth that you DFA or trade either one to make room for Hembree. The moment a pitcher gets hurt, you'd want the guy you dumped back.
