For reference, Chris Young has started his rehab with the PawSox.
With Betts and Ortiz nursing, interesting timing.

Is he going to start or Buchholz on Saturday?

Given the bullpen and Benny's ascendance to the full-time LFer, not a surprise. Perhaps only a surprise that it's Elias and not Kelly.

That's okay, the team could just use a pitcher to pinch run. There are no downsides to playing with too short of a bench.

I don't get this at all. When Mookie is hurting, you kinda need a 4th OF. What happens if someone gets hurt or kicked out of the game?

holt is the 4th OF
Sean O'Sullivan, rehab assignment ends, clears waivers, outrighted to AAA. Off the 40-man, which is back to 39

Presumably they want someone with more length, especially since Buchholz might not be stretched out at this point.

You can say that about any 4th outfielder when a starter gets hurt. The move suggests that Betts won't be out long, or there will be another move shortly.

I would not go one game with the roster as it is now. If any OF or Xander has to come out of the game, they will be forced to use Mookie even if he can't play. And if Papi has to come out of the game, there will be no one able to backup 1B, 2B or 3B. You usually have a 5th OF on the roster. You always have one when one of the starters are banged up.

Holaday also seems to be an emergency option in the field, but minimal chances there.
