Mauricio Dubon now 5-5 with 3 doubles and 3 runs scored. He was evidently inspired by my boy Couch throwing 6 strong innings. I hope they replace the entire MLB team with this Portland team before it's too late.

This may be the first time in recorded human history that someone has suggested replacing a playoff contending MLB team with a 53-76 minor league team! I wonder, just out of curiosity, if you brought up the Portland team right now and had them play the rest of the season, what would be a reasonable over/under on the number of games they would win? I would guess 4.5

I have to ask - where does Dubon fit into Red Sox future plans? Is he a trade chip? Is there a spot open for the Red Sox? Perhaps Dubon winds up at SS with Bogaerts moving to 3b and Moncada winding up in CF with JBJ dealt for pitching help?
Can Dubon be a guy you can even put at SS or is he really just a 2b blocked by Pedroia?
All I know is that Dubon has been projected to be nothing more than a utility man who might be able to be a 2b for a 2nd division team, perhaps a bit like Asuaje? But maybe he is a lot more? He's really killing AA pitching right now and I think this guy can be a regular in the major leagues.
I think if the Sox take Sandy Leon as being real, between Swihart/Dubon/Rodriguez the Sox have the ability to pick up a real front line starter - not that they really need to, but there is that possibility and Dombrowski certainly likes to deal from excess.
So does Dubon have a future with the Boston Red Sox?

I have to ask - where does Dubon fit into Red Sox future plans? Well, placement of his number will depend on how many other numbers they retire first.

So does Dubon have a future with the Boston Red Sox? Dubai's recent emergence has a vaguely Betts-like feel to it, at a slightly older age and at a slightly higher level. I notice that the projected 2017 rosters have Dubon listed to start at Portland again. That's probably realistic because we've all known AA to catch up with players who start out hot at that level. If he reproves himself in the early part of 2017, you'd think AAA would beckon, and then decisions would need to be made about him.

When was the projected 2017 roster updated? It has Beni with Bos, but Leon as backup to Vazquez. Moncada in AAA. So I suppose this could have been sometime after Beni, Moncada, and Dubon were promoted to AA, and Leon was on what appeared to be a SSS hot streak. If it was done after Beni was called up, then Sandy should have been the starting catcher. So perhaps the expectation was that Beni was MLB ready when he was in Portland, but Moncada needed time in AAA, and nobody thought Dubon was on a Mookie trajectory? If Marco is on the MLB roster, then I would have Dubon in AAA. Marrero can be the org guy. If Kopech has really learned to mix his pitches, then his stay in Portland will be short.
