Tonight is the Spinners' College Night, so UMass Lowell students (which I am) get free entry. There's a pretty good chance I'll be at the game, so if I see anything really noteworthy I'll make sure to share. The lineups haven't been announced yet but I'm praying I get to see Dalbec's power in person.

DSL Sox2 win their opening playoff game 3-0. Mata got the start and he Gomez combined for the shutout. They'll be back at it tomorrow.

Looks like fair chance GCL Sox could play a playoff game, or several much closer to me than Ft Myers (about 150m) in Orlando, Clearwater, Bradenton.. I'd take any of those venue drives

McAvoy having another very rough outing tonight, it's been a nightmare season for him.

Here are a few observations from the Spinners game, but not limiting it to just players' at bats or box score lines: -Chatham definitely looks great at short. Showed off his arm on a couple close plays and almost made a spectacular diving catch to his left. Popped out of the glove when he hit the ground, but the range was obvious. CJ also had two hard-hit singles: a smoked liner and a hard ground ball. He looked poised all night out there. -Dalbec showed off his power tonight, both in terms of hitting (2 hard line drive singles), but showed off his arm as well. Fielding wise, he played a DP grounder to his left instead of getting in front of it, and the same for another grounder he handled to his right. Neither were hit too hard, so it seems like he did so out of choice/casually. Hitting wise, again, two hard liners, but he also struck out 3 times, and whiffed a few times against curves that didn't look too amazing. But he and Chatham definitely look like college-experienced players out there. Both of them were impressive even if their floors/ceilings are a little dubious right now. -Yoan Aybar played center well, ranging to his right on a liner into the gap, and had a rocket line drive. Definitely still in that "toolsy and raw" area, I'd say. -Matthew Gorst relieved Dakota Smith, and Gorst sat in the mid 80s, but flashed a pretty good changeup (I think it was?) It had the hitters mostly off balance. He has a short arm delivery, though, and his stuff was what it was, so I'll leave that at that.
But the player I was most impressed with was the Renegades' CF Garrett Whitley. Didn't know who he was before tonight, but the Rays' 13th overall pick in 2015. He had 3 absolute screamers tonight: 2 to the left-center gap, and another in the 3B-SS hole. His stats don't jump off the page or anything, but his line drives weren't just line drives. They didn't seem to lose any velocity and were in the air deep into the gaps. Really, really impressive night for him.
