Great baserunning by Williams that inning, he's like a reverse Hanley.

I'd be unpleasantly surprised if Pomeranz makes a playoff start So whose the third starter. Of the other choices he's been the most consistent. AND he'd still be in the game if he was tagged at home. I'm not so sure the front foot actually touched the plate, and if not the play was called wrong.

Pomeranz is taking care of his workload questions all by himself: 2 IP last game 3 2/3 IP in this one.

Pomeranz has been scary bad these past two starts. It's actually astonishing he can't cruise through this lineup, which is at best a JV lineup.

We had so much awesome this series that maybe asking for a sweep might have been greedy.

I noticed at times during the last two starts that he has been shaking his throwing arm between pitches. Like he can't get loose or something. I hadn't noticed it in his previous starts.

Pomeranz isn't instilling a lot of confidence. I'd expect a pitcher the Red Sox trade one of the top pitching prospects for in the game would pitch better than the mediocrity that Pomeranz has been. He hasn't been overly impressive overall.
For all the complaining about the Margot/Kimbrel deal I still have a sinking feeling that this trade will be far, far worse. And freaking major league baseball doesn't see fit to really punish the Padres for withholding some of Pomeranz' medical situation. I would hope it's some sort of injury that's resulting in him being so mediocre since being traded. All I see is a guy without great command who is very prone to the gopher ball.

We had so much awesome this series that maybe asking for a sweep might have been greedy. According to my pitch tracker, the Sox are swinging at a LOT of balls outside the strike zone. Maybe the intensity/focus just isn't there tonight for some reason. It IS likely that Sabathia won't pitch more than 6 innings due to pitch count, so it's possible that if the Sox are within sight going into the late innings they could still make a run, even if they don't get much off Sabathia.

To be fair, as mediocre as he's been, he has pitched some decent games where he had no run support whatsoever, so comparing him to O'Sullivan isn't really fair or accurate. O'Sullivan was awful but got run support. Pomeranz has been mediocre, which is definitely a step up for Pomeranz, but not worth an Anderson Espinoza thus far.

Given how bad our starting pitching was, I can't blame Dombro for making the trade. It is unfortunate that Pomeranz hasn't pitched well the last few starts, but that's the way it goes sometimes. I

Betts does nothing with a pitch belt high, middle in. That's the type of pitch, earlier in the season, that makes this a 4-3 game in a hurry. I wonder if maybe Mookie is wearing down a little bit.
