A good target as Ortiz's replacement as the DH, or is he to expensive/to old?
I think he would be a good fit (switch hitter) in the line up

Martinez would probably be an OK acquisition in a vacuum, but he's very risky at 38 and would cost more in trade than the equivalent of the 26th pick in the draft. If you really want a switch-hitter, the Sox could almost assuredly get Beltran for 2 (or even just 1) year, at a similar or lower AAV, and he wouldn't cost the draft pick OR the trade pieces. I'd give Martinez a big pass, unless he could be acquired for a couple of C-grade prospects as salary relief (which Detroit wouldn't do because their window is closing).

Different Martinez but....
Bleacher report speculated that JD Martinez might be on the trading block and that dombrowski would be interested.
