Brian Johnson was the probable starter today as of Sunday, but with Wright headed to the DL, it's now listed as TBD.

Coinciding with the Tavarez promotion, Junior Lake was released.

Planning to be at the PawSox game tonight. Would be impolite to have Tavarez come to town and then not be there to greet him.

Is there any reporting on Lin that would suggest his bat has improved this season, or is this just being considered a SSS hot streak? Bar for improvement is being set very low.

Johnson is listed as the PawSox starter again.
Listed PawSox probables for the week are Johnson today, Owens Wednesday, Kendrick Thursday, Haviland Friday. Boston needs a starter Thursday. Seems like Kendrick has righted the ship enough his past couple starts that he might get the call.

Well the problem with Lin has always been that he can't hit a fly ball or hit for any power, and that he was always very young for his level. He's still young for his level, but now he's been hitting more fly balls and line drives. Lin's listed at 5'9 155 which is tiny and explains his small Iso. Maybe he's finally put on some weight.

Seems like Kendrick has righted the ship enough his past couple starts that he might get the call. The Sox would need to find room on the 40 man roster if that were the case. Hard to find the guy they would DFA in order to do that. Would love to see Abad or Joe Kelly DFA'D but the Sox have kept away from doing so thus far.

Wouldn't be hard at all. 1) Thornburg to the 60-day (he's going to need a full rehab whenever he's ready for that) 2) DFA Marrero - hard to see how he factors into the plans at this point, and even still, he probably clears.

I see I was only holding Devers back last night.
5-5, 2 HR (one opposite field, one center again)

Y'all should be checking BP's Jeff Paternostro tweets: He was at the Sea Dogs game. He's crazy about Devers.

I see I was only holding Devers back last night. 5-5, 2 HR (one opposite field, one center again) I saw the video of the opposite field homerun, Devers I swear cleared the ballpark on a opposite field homerun. Like holy crap!!! I have no doubt that this kid will be up by August if there is a need by then at third base. He's already the best fielding third baseman the Sox would see at third base this year and would be a upgrade in that capacity. He would also help because he would be a cheap upgrade and wouldn't keep the Sox from going over the luxury tax threshold this year. Not only that, but a Sox lineup that could use a boost in slugging, Devers could help in that capacity too.

It might be tempting to bring him up by July 1 or sooner.

I watched Devers go off last night, but when he got his infield hit, he was holding his leg and seemed to feel a pull? Hope he's ok today? I love how he reacts at third and has a strong arm, but he needs to work on soft grounders - bare handed plays - too many are deemed hits and a "more in shape" infielder would have made the play. Not a criticism but something he can work on.

Do you think he is lacking in agility because of extra weight..something that he could lose to improve? or just a big structured guy... who needs more reps? I saw him in the GCL a couple of years ago and recall a pretty thick lower body...especially for someone his then age. To me he seemed to lack quickness/range and I envisioned him a 1B down the road...ala Mo Vaughn. He does have a rocket arm. This spring on TV he looked a bit more svelte than I remembered.

Kind of got buried in the thread there, but Paternostro from BPro had him a 4.2 down the line. Every so often there are just bad-body/good-athlete types and Babyface really just seems to be one of them. He's put together like the sorta-chunky kid who was the best hitter on your Babe Ruth-league who you couldn't understand how he was faster than you, too. His uniform even fits a little weird in the same way. And, his face still looks like he's 15. Everything about him, physically, makes him look like the world's most precocious high school freshman baseball player.

Yup. The comments from Farrell when he was sent down during spring training referring to his conditioning struck me as ignorant of the player and what he is (the same way we all assumed he'd move to first seeing him shortly after he signed) in the staff's first real exposure to him. He's never going to be an adonis, but he's plenty athletic if he maintains this body.

In my mind's eye I could see that Babe Ruth league kid...had me chuckling....😁.

While it's fun to fantasize him filling the gaping hole at 3B this year, it's easy to forget this kid just turned 20 in October. For now, I'll be content to let the development team monitor his development and advance him to a higher level when it deems he can handle it. The Sox have had some hiccups by rushing kids up too soon.
