They had already announced that Workman was going back down today, so someone was coming up. Can't be Selsky until Monday. I guess it could be Marrero as a warm body on the bench.

Hernandez went on the DL, so they wouldn't need to have the waiting period to call up Selsky. Unless there was a rule change there.

He would have to have come up when Hernandez went on the DL.
There's a chance they go with Dominguez and make room on the 40-man. There are guys they could DFA, for sure.

And there is almost no chance Portland plays today . . . and tomorrow might be unlikely, too. 100% chance of rain and 1-2" of rain predicted tonight. Light rain continuing through Sat early afternoon.
Rochester looks rainy today and tonight, too.

I was definitely interpreting the rule wrong then. Anyway, yeah - if it's not Marrero then he's kind of the obvious DFA candidate. Not a lot of point in having him on the 40-man if they're not going to go to him even to be a warm body with three infielders on the DL.

If you didn't have to call the guy up when the injured guy went on the DL, then there would be no point to the rule - at what time does a team not have at least one pitcher and hitter on the DL?

Yeah. My thinking was that if a player is added to the DL, a player on that 10-day waiting period can be recalled - not that it necessarily has to be the corresponding transaction. Like, you can't waive it for a player already on the DL - they couldn't call him up in five days just because Thornburg was on the DL previously, but a player needed to be put on the DL during the waiting period. Part of me thinking that probably comes from the way teams could so easily get around the "needs to be on the 25-man by 8/31" rule because having any injured player meant they could waive it.

1340 minor leaguers have thrown 10+ innings this year. Callahan ranks 40th in swinging strikes, 16% of his pitches.

Portland postponed, as expected. SH tomorrow starting at 1pm. That might be hard to get in, too. Maybe id they wait to start at 4 or 5 or something. Pretty soon they'll have to try some triple headers.
* The last triple header in MLB was 10/2/1920 between the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Apparently the last in MiLB was just last year, but one of the games was a suspended game. Potomac Nationals Nationals v. Lynchburg Hillcats

Lynchburg Hillcats I spend 4-5 months/year in Maine and get extended chances to watch the Seadogs. But man the weather is brutal in April and iffy to at least middle of May. There is good attendance, great fan support and Maine is a Sox bulwark. But I wonder from the player development standpoint if the Sox would consider a southerly move. I guess I could hope for an expedited global warming.

I'm from Maine and Live in NH. It brutal at times, but it is on other areas, too. I think Portland is here to stay, thankfully. Great city, great ballpark, great fanbase, close to Boston. April and May can get challenging at times, but that's no different than any other northeast team.

Portland has everything going for it (including 5 star restaurants-see Adam Richman)...a wonderful, vibrant city!!....
...except for the early baseball season weather. Being on the coast it is colder and more prone to fog and mist.
BTW I grew up in Kennebunk and love Maine in all its facets. Striper fishing is pretty good too!

Chavis back in the field.
As far as franchises go, I have Portland and Greenville close as the top franchise, Pawtucket in the middle then a big drop to Salem.

Pawtucket was only able to muster a safety in a 7-2 loss. Pawtucket held Rochester to a safety in a 7-2 win.
A plethora of field goals has the Drive up 15-3.
The SalSox are hoping that extra point doesn't hurt them and Basabe doesn't kick a game winning field goal as they are up 10-8. ADD: Salem tacked in another field goal for a 13-8 win.

He looked really good in spring training and it has carried over to the start of this year, where he had looked really good!
