I thought the title of the thread originally had something to do with Owens...

Nogosek blows saving in 9th and is losing pitcher in 6-5 loss to Delmarva.
Tyler Hill 3-4 with a 2B and is now 9-13 in his last 3 games.

He added 2 more SB to his season total (14), although he was caught stolen once. Still though, after a year last year in which he had 11 SB and 11 CS, its nice to see a ratio of 14 SB to 2 CS this year.

That said, it's one that needs to be taken with a grain of salt. See, e.g., Garin Cecchini's 51 SB there as one of any number of examples of players stealing bags with some success in the SAL then not really doing it thereafter.

I remember Hill and Kemp both being drafted in 2014 as athletic OF guys who needed a lot of development. Kemp was probably a bit more highly rated but, if I recall correctly, he was still very raw because he spent a lot of time playing football (wasn't he going to be a 2 sport player in college?). Right now, Kemp seems to have emerged from nowhere* (not rated in top 60), while Hill is still struggling to show gains in game action (although maybe the last 3 games will be a turning point).
*Granted, it's only 40 AB's, but Kemp is making solid contact along with 6BB and 9K's

In this year's Fangraphs prospect list, Longenhagen mentioned him as someone with huge raw power, which was something I hadn't heard before. He went on to say "I don’t think he’s going to hit, but if he starts to, even a little bit, he instantly becomes a dude because of the power." Anyways, he's off to a good start in this tiny sample, but like you said, his BB/K ratio is better than its ever been which is a nice sign even early on.

If the Salem gamelog is right, Shaun Anderson somehow threw 81 pitches to 29 batters.

Yeah, I think it just took a little time to get comfortable again. The injury he sustained meant no hitting at all so it's probably been a matter of getting the timing back. Let's see if he can sustain some momentum.

I've been intrigued by Kemp for a little bit now- I think one of my very few posts on the site said as much. He didn't make a lot of contact but it always seemed like he drove it whenever he did get a piece. He was always pegged as a project like you guys mentioned. The developments this year are very encouraging so far. I hoped the K rate would drop but I couldn't have expected him to be making contact THIS well On pace for infinity xbh Sss of course tho heh

Trenton Kemp is an amazing athlete. He was very raw when drafted. Last season his K% was 35.2%, which is pretty much expected. He looks to improve his plate discipline. He is definitely intriguing prospect.

Kemp 2-5 with 2 doubles last night. No K's. De la Guerra, Chavis, Ockimey, Kemp all with 2 hits. Matheny with 3 hits. And they managed only 4 runs. Bottom 4 in hte lineup was 2-15, with 8 K's. Rei is really in a funk.

If the Salem gamelog is right, Shaun Anderson somehow threw 81 pitches to 29 batters. In the first inning, he threw just 21 pitches to 9 batters. It went: 0-1 single, 1st pitch HR, 1st pitch HR, 0-1 groundout, 3-1 walk, first-pitch single, first-pitch double, 1-2 K, 2-1 single (out trying to advance on throw). That is, if it's correct - I'm skeptical. After a cold start, Travis has been cranking, tonight 2/4 w HR. Devers 3/6 2 2B & BB in the doubleheader. I really like travis's swing. He was struggling with timing earlier, but seems to be getting more locked in lately. Now we need longhi to get things straightened out, .421/.488/.526 in May. Although he's missed their last three games and had DH'ed two of his last four starts, so it looks like he might be dinged up.

That is, if it's correct - I'm skeptical. In 2013 I'd have been very skeptical but the gamelogs have been much more accurate in the last couple years. Plus, normally they wouldn't leave a guy like Anderson out to face 29 batters. Even if it's off by as much as a dozen that's 3.2 pitches per plate appearance by a whole team. That's some absurd aggressiveness by Frederick.
