Tough pitching match ups.
What a difference a year makes. Last year, most of us would have been pretty confident of a win in game two (Porcello) regardless of the opposing pitcher. Now... ehh?
Wish list for this "series" 1) 14 innings from the starting pitchers (I said "wish list" not "expectations") 2) Zero errors from 3B 3) XBHs from Hanley and JBJ

Sounds like Moreland is going to start both games, so if Hanley gets an extra-base hit it will be as a pinch hitter.

But pitchers hitting .100 is great for the game and strategic bunting and double switches win championships.

With the Celtics winning last night the Sox have bought themselves about a week to 10 days of breathing room. Once they are eliminated the focus will be solely on them and i fully expect the hate to start coming in.

I don't think the pitching matchups are tough. Eduardo should be just as good as Lance Lynn and Porcello is better than Leake, even if the stats don't reflect it.

I'll admit I'm a lineup nitpicker, but man I hate that Betts is leading off with Bogaerts and Pedroia behind him.

Every Mookie HR will be a solo one. are we sure that Mookies productivity in the leadoff spot, which has to have empirical backing at this point, should be a point of contention? they can always change it later. File it under, if ain't broke, don't fix it.

But I am pretty sure he has had a large portion of his AB's in the leadoff spot, so that should weigh. I said earlier I like X in the leadoff spot, but I don't think this is going to make a difference in the short run. Over the course of a year, I would also bat him 3rd. He certainly started heating up with the change, at least this year. And so did our offense, for what its worth.

Mookie is leading the team in HR and Xander has 0. Xander has the best OBP on the team and he's hitting behind Mookie.
It's a no-brainer decision. This better not go into July like last year.

A pitcher gets a popup and gives up an earned run. Statistics have so far to go to describe what is actually happening.

My baseball managerial experience is limited to about 6 or 7 seasons of Little League between my two sons. Even I would know to have the better power hitter hit third behind the guy who gets on base the best. Serious question, what is JF thinking in constructing the lineup this way? I'm really asking.

It's obviously irrational to want to have Mookie get more PAs than Xander
