The one good take-away from losing on the road is that you only need to pitch 8 innings. That was needed with the short outing from Fister.

It's going to be a tough call to keep Fister on the roster past this start. Robby Scott hasn't been pitching well lately and could get sent down but Farrell really likes him as a loogy. Yes, BUT, why does he keep throwing him in vs RHB?

Yes, BUT, why does he keep throwing him in vs RHB? Well he's been walking LHB too. I don't think he has a choice in games like this, but normally I agree he does it too much.

Despite Fister's poor outing the Red Sox need to keep him around as a 6th starter/depth when E-Rod gets activated. Given the way Scott has been pitching my guess is Abad becomes the only LOOGY and Fister heads to the pen and we'll see Scott if there's an injury or rosters expand in September.

They've announced that Fister will have one more start after the break (there's a doubleheader on the 16th), then move to the bullpen. Rodriguez will either make one more rehab start or come up a couple days before the break to work out of the bullpen before rejoining the rotation after the break.
