I like our chances tonight. Hoping Mookie, Pedey, Xander and Hanley keep it rolling and feast on lefty pitcher Perez. Time for Porcello to spin a gem.

Sox getting their hits - only a matter of time...and a bit of patience and luck (Young crushed it right at Beltre in the 1st). Mookie bailed the pitcher out swinging at a ball in the first, Leon just did the same...
Porcello certainly needs to minimize 25 pitch innings

Marrero apparently wants a silver slugger award.

They don't want to pitch to Mookie...(smart) - it will be up to Pedey
aaaannnnd he delivered!
even better - they are settling down and working up the pitch count (though it is probably good to have him in pitching his meatballs up there for as long as possible)

Recent streak has created good feelings, but the organization and players deserve credit for their current record. The team has had a lot of injuries and they are in first place with the 2nd best record in the AL.

Related to your comment, with Ortiz' retirement, they've really been rebuilding a culture, in a way - the leadership gap needed to be closed, the team is really young - add in the injuries and this is a first half position that they can be proud of, and build on.

Agreed. As fans, we tend to take the day to day too seriously. The players know that you play 162 and then take inventory. I hope it continues.

Gosh, Lin looks so good in the field. How were we all sleeping on this guy?
And how is it so much easier to hit in the majors than the minors (see Marrero, Devin)?? I'm exaggerating, but it does seem like some guys have come up this year and suddenly hit better, rather than having a hard time. Weird.

As far as performing better with the Sox than in the minors, those who are good with stats here will know this better - speculation on my part...some factors - pitchers more around the plate, better hitting backgrounds (better lighting), certainly better coaching, adrenaline of being in the big show....also, they are new to the majors, so less of a "book" on weaknesses.

Not a good base-running team.
Got to take advantage of the Texas screwups here.

this night has offered four drills with two outs and men in scoring position.
Five now, two with bases loaded and Pedroia at the dish.

This is probably the game right here. Dustin with the bases loaded. I was hoping Mookie wouldn't get a walk.
Yes Yes, Dustin does it.

Odd how thing work...last week Moreland ended up with people clogging the bases all night (and he didn't deliver). Tonight it is Pedroia. Let's see how it goes...

I liken this streak that Marrero is on to what Vazquez was doing early in the season. It's absolutely unsustainable, especially when just about every ball is getting hit to RF. I'm surprised that the book on him is not already fastball in, offspeed outside and out of the zone. He can't catch up to velocity at all, can't recognize offspeed, and is just scraping by getting lucky hits that go to RF because he can't catch up to them. It's nice while it's lasting but I don't expect any of it to continue. He has not turned a corner.
