Here we go again. 3 BBs in the 1st for Owens, but he gets out of it with 2 Ks. Take the good with the bad.

Here we go again. Another HR for Chavis. Just cementing his trade value for when the Sox stupidly trade for a bridge 3B with Devers charging fast.

10th HR from Roldani Baldwin. One of my favorite players in the system. Is there any idea how he's developing on the defensive side of catching? His offense has been incredible this year, so is the defensive development one of the reasons he hasn't been promoted? I know catchers develop slower, but he's been awesome this year. He'll be promoted later in the season, right?

It feels like Rule 5 guys will be on the move this year. I'm just worried about the future because he feels blocked at third and first by Devers and Travis. It really stinks because he's putting it together so quickly :/

Chavis has a career Iso D of around 0.60, and that's mostly when he wasn't hitting very well. Even if he's just a .260-.280 hitter, he'll probably post OBPs around .330 and he looks like he'll slug around .500. He's holding his own offensively in AA at 21. Also, he's short and right-handed...1B probably isn't an option. He's a 2b/3b/LF/DH guy.

When did MLB stop trying to get at least 2 players from each organization in the Future's Game?

Devers with the only World hit through first 2 innings.

Kopech K'd Moncada. Then Moncada made a throwing error turning a DP the next inning.

Btw, terrific rehab start by Rodriguez. Not Yuck? No, nor Workman. Yuck was on Sox-ex Chris Smith.

He flat out needs to walk more.

Coincidentally, ex-Sox Chris Smith was making his first career start. He was last in the Sox org in 2008, when he made his mlb debut in relief. He left as a free agent that offseason after being DFA off the roster.

Ah OK,who would ever think there would be two guys with such an unusual name. Not our guys but this is pretty cool: MiLB.comVerified account @milb 20m20 minutes ago .@vtlakemonsters turn a triple play in the top of the ninth, then score four in the bottom of the ninth to walk off. atmilb.com/2sFa7NR

I don't think Sam Travis is blocking anyone personally. I'm saying this as a guy who really likes Sam Travis but realizes his real limitations as a regular MLB player.
Sam could be the Sox first baseman next year or the Sox could fill the need outside the organization (resign Mitch Moreland or sign JD Martinez and convert him to 1B).
If Sam is going to earn his full time role, he's going to have to hit and he should but who knows how much as a everyday player. He strikeouts a little and his speed won't increase his Babip for example, his power should be good enough with Fenway helping him half the time. Just stinks that his athletic ability hinders his ability to be more versatile. You're talking about a real valuable player if he was a 3B, but he just can't play there.

Have we considered that Chavis is 5' 10" ? Second base or left field is much more likely if he remains with the Sox.

Chavis is a high risk prospect that will probably make the show at some point but his lack of contact, his poor walk rates, and lack of a position at the moment really makes him questionable to stick in the majors.
