The nationals could probably be world champions this year, if they had a closer!
We have a closer that is having a great season.
For 2017, our offense does not have the intestinal fortitude to allow us to win it all this year.
So maybe we become sellers at the deadline and move kimbrel to the nationals for turner (currently on the dl) who plays third for us, minor leaguer Robles and minor league pitcher Fedde!
This practically guarantees the nationals win it all and we solve our third base problem and get two quality minor leaguers.

There is absolutely zero reason for either team to do this. You never fill a hole by creating another hole which is what both teams would be doing. The Sox can fill the 3b hole without having to deal Kimbrel and the Nats can fill their closer hole without having to deal Turner and one of the best prospects in baseball.

The Nationals would not trade any one of those players for Kimbrel (well, maybe Fedde). The Red Sox would not trade Kimbrel for that entire package of players.

Wow that would be a blockbuster? Agree Not sure why either team would do it. Right now kimbrel is one of the 4 or 5 best closers. In this day in age why especially Dave, who lost a few shots a title because he did not have a closer, trade to get a 3rd base guy when he has Devers sitting there waiting for the sox to pull the trigger when they think he is ready. IF Dave thought that Kelly was ready to take a closer type role, I think Dave would pull the trigger on that package. Turner or Devers moves to first. Robles gives you some options on trading Bradley for what? Fedde could be the young starter the sox want so they can move porcello or maybe a price. to help control salaries later on. I agree that it is not going to happen.

So maybe we become sellers at the deadline and move kimbrel Gotta admit, this is not what I was anticipating when I poked my head into the Trade Proposal Subforum on this fine July day.

For 2017, our offense does not have the intestinal fortitude to allow us to win it all this year. I'm having trouble getting my head around this line. Can you please explain it. If it's merely timely hitting you are referring to that comes and goes but has nothing to do with the 'gumption' of a player never mind the team. Please elaborate.

You already know the ridiculous answer.
