Not much of a prospect anymore, but Mike Olt has been hot the past couple months. improved his K/BB a bit and his ISO is up. He's 28 and I'm AA, but once of course was one of the bigger name prospects in baseball. I played against him in HS. He hit the longest ball of any HS player I have ever seen. His HS didn't have an outfield fence, so it was the longest inside the park HR, but my God did he mash in HS. Had a nice career at UConn before moving onto the professional ranks. Kind of fizzled out when he got to the big leagues. As a UConn guy I'd love to see him succeed. He had some bad luck with his eyesight too, which hurt an already steep MLB learning curve given his K rate.

Should explain his extreme K rate at the MLB level.

A bullpen/40-man roster audition game for Pawtucket, with Callahan, Shepherd, Buttrey all with nice (multi-inning!) stints.

A couple of questions. 1. There was an article in read recently which said the Sox wanted Raudes to work hard on his fastball and so he hadn't been using his change up very often. Is he back to using a bigger pitch mix? Could that explain his turn around? Or is he commanding the fastball better and still not throwing a lot of off speed stuff? 2. Am I the only person here who thinks the Sox might as well give Brentz a shot? Has he come on so strong with his retooled swing that they fear exposing him if he is called up and then sent back down again?

Dave we need more offense... The trouble is it's less 3B than it is the rest of the team. No one is having what would be called a "good season" based on their track record. Bradley and Pedroia are doing what would be expected and the rest are all having down years.

Our batting avg and runs per game is good. It just seems that we get shut out or 1r more often, i.e., streaky

They are all about where would be expected or a bit below. There just isn't anyone having an above average or great year compared to their track record. Contrast that with several players on the Yankees or Rays who are having exceptional to absurdly unbelievable years.

Folks, the minor league gameday thread really isn't the place for this discussion. Thanks.
